Cover variations / Different Covers (Vinyl only)
Re: Cover variations / Different Covers (Vinyl only)
Such an awfull Manilla Road cover!bigfootkit wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 1:54 amNot at all, i find it a fascinating topic too & have lurked long on this thread, but you guys are far better versed in the arcane world of sleeve variations than i am.
Don't know if this Roadrunner test press cover for Melissa was mentioned in the thread, but it deserves to be seen again regardless.
And thank Odin that the originally comissioned artwork for Manilla Road's 'Open The Gates' was dropped in favour of Eric Larnoy's familiar iconic cover.

Yes for me too..Cochino wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 3:19 amThose kind of small, unexplainable variations are my favorites.Zanker wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 8:32 pm You're welcome. You showed me some too i've never seen. I really need that Swedisch Witchfynde- Give em hell.
Not that big of different covers (Warlock and Bitch), but i like small variations aswell.
Like the MSG...people only see the different colorscheme but if you look closely, you actually see that these are two different shots taken from the photo session.. Look at Michaels hands, the woman in the dooropening...
Same happened for the Bitch - Be my slave photo shoot. They took another shot for the tape release.

It was never released (as far as i know) with that cover, although the 2015 Goldencore 'Utimate Edition' digipak CD release does use it as the front cover for the inner booklet.vasilis2112 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 6:23 amNever seen this Manila cover before!bigfootkit wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 1:54 am the originally comissioned artwork for Manilla Road's 'Open The Gates' was dropped in favour of Eric Larnoy's familiar iconic cover.

Such a cack-handed image, it's strange to think that this could have been the cover which we would now have associated with that album had history worrked out differently. The Eric Larnoy painting which was used finally is so perfect for the record that i can't help but picture it whenever i hear those songs & it's so attention grabbing visually that it must have encouraged many people to pick the album up initially.
