Neal Tanaka

Post by Keir »

When I first started collecting obscure metal records years ago, one of my inspirations came from the pictures of records covering Neal Tanaka’s walls in the Metalucifer albums. To this day, I still have not figured out what half of those albums are. I have seen attempts to do this on other forums but they never even got as far as I did by myself, so I figure it’s time to bring in the experts.

Here is the cover of Heavy Metal Hunter (2003 R.I.P. Records):

I was able to identify most of the albums that are not obscured by Tanaka himself or the camera flash. However, I also found this picture which shows a much larger view of the wall:

Thanks for the quick response! I'm having some trouble getting the pics to show roperly. I'll have to try to fix that later (and hopefully get a better quality pic of the album cover up).

Thanks guys! A few of these I'm surprised I didn't recognize, but others I never would have figured out.

No, I don't think I'll do that. I might get depressed seeing how inexpensive some of these were back then!

EDIT: Updated the list in the first post.

Cool! I figured out a couple more too, though they are hard to see in the pictures I posted: just above the Pride 7" is Spitfire - Blade Runner and (you'll have to trust me on this) 2 albums below Thor is Август
- Ответный Удар.

Having a hard time making out much from that image, but at a quick glance at least the first record of column 9 is Taipan's "Breakout" EP...
Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?
One day you'll be among the dead.

13th column top looks like Aria's "Blood For Blood"...
Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?
One day you'll be among the dead.

Haha, we're not the only ones dissecting Mr. Tanaka's wall of records.
