Metal musicians who got famous in commercial music

Tony Fredianelli formerly of Apocrypha went on to play in "Third Eye Blind".
To my knowledge he was never part of the band through their most popular period but still...

Was this shitty pop band even known outside of North America? I know in the mid to late 90's this crap was all over the radio.

I also don't know how popular the rappers "Necro" or "Ill Bill" are where any of you guys live but I have a few buddies that are big into rap music. Anyways they actually started their "careers" playing guitar/bass and doing vocals for the band Injustice.

The singer from TARGET - Master, Project, Genesis was a pop-star and later won Eurovision or something.

Also Johan Längquist (Jonah Quizz/Candlemass) have a quite successful career as pop/rock singer

Santino de la Torre vocalist from Sentencia now is a latin pop artist in miami.
Some Curriculum Mortis guys played in a afro electronic band called novalima, very well know in europe.
Rata Blanca is commercial too...

Well, according to the liner notes Franky van Aerde did for the Master, Project, Genesis re-issue, after Target disbanded Steve Gray moved to Luxemburg and worked with Laurie Wisefield (Ex-guitarist of Tina Turner and Joe Cocker) and Michael Shapiro (Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton) before moving on to work for RTL.

So yeah, he may work in a hardware store today, but this doesn't mean he wasn't a successful (at least relatively speaking) pop/rock singer in the past.

I'm pretty sure almost no-one in Sweden except his family, friends, neighbours and Candlemass fans know of his existence.

It is funny to see that in Croatia old Metal musicians had more influence in the Pop scene than in Metal....actually we're talking about musicians that are today known by common people....

The singer of Osmi Putnik is today one of the most successful singers. I have read that his last album was the best selling one of that year.....He seems an asshole as he doesn't want to talk about his past.....

Also Goran Karan, who started his career in Crna Udovica and Zippo, is a pop star today, who also took part at the Eurovision afaik. But in contrast to the singer of Osmi Putnik he still is proud of his Metal past. In 2000 when he was already known he sang on a Witchcraft demo....

Vuco, who was the singer in Witchcraft, and also played bass for Evil Blood is a very popular fun folk singer....but also has one Metal/ HR fun project....btw. the mainman of Evil Blood is the cousin of the Croatian goalkeeper legend Tonci Gabric...

The well known singer Alen Nizetic started in the Thrash outfit Mortum.
