Savatage 'Sirens' Different Label Colors?
Recently noticed that some copies of the 'Sirens' LP on Par have silver labels while others apparently have blue labels. And apparently both the black and blue vinyl versions come with silver or blue labels. Are these different pressings, is one a reissue or a boot....? Thanks for any info.

No, these are not bootlegs. There are actually 3 different labels of Sirens.
One silver and two blue.
One blue label has songwriter's names under the song tiltles and the other has only the song titles. I used to have both blue labels but some years ago i sold the one.
As for silver label, i never had it but i remember it exists.
There are also two different labels of Avatar single. And i am not refering to the bootleg.

Yes none of these are boots.
Par pressed a ton of these, That is why I could never get the high price It really is not that Rare.
I think if I remember this correctly and I am sure I dont
SO PLEASE CORRECT ME
PAR pressed stuff as they needed them, So like Avatar there is a Silver and a white label. They pressed 1000 and then still had folks ordering it so they pressed more(But with in like 1-2 months) Note really a second pressing, Same plates/press. Just had to get new labels printed.
The same with the LP as orders came in they would go back and order more to be pressed, I think I heard at one time that they pressed 10K LP's and I really think that could be true, if not More. They had BIG USA distro for the time, Not like most private labels.

John- there is 1 pic on popsike of a blue vinyl + blue label copy.

Can we assume that the yellow vinyl Avatars all had the same colored label? God help us all if there are sub-varieties of that!

The cover looks OLD but the black streak in the vinyl is also Odd
This record was EVERYWHERE in the late 80's early 90's

I got mine at Ralph's out in Lubbock in the mid-90s. I never picked up a blue vinyl copy; while I like Savatage a lot, 'Sirens' is not a personal favorite so I never could justify paying that much just to have it on both colors of vinyl. As such I'm not gonna be putting together a 'labels set' anytime soon either
I think part of the high price is just related to popularity; Savatage has a ton of fans, so demand is high, even though there's a healthy supply of copies. Same goes for the Yellow Goat and the Soundhouse Tapes; finding a copy isn't hard, but outbidding the hundreds of Bathory/Maiden fans is tough. Plenty of metal records are rarer than these, but the bands are more obscure so fewer people are willing to pay a lot for their records. Goes back to the 'Rarity versus Notoriety' issue I babble about all the time

Are we talking the PAR test or Combat or MFN or.............Buried By Time and Dust wrote:Are the "Sirens" Test Pressings worth good money or not? And does anybody know about how many test pressings they would have done for a record like this?
As for most I would guess the Test was done in a 5-10 #
But combat was know to use tests as advance copies and some where pressed in the 25-50 range
