So selling bootlegs is okay now but making them isn't?....

I'm not going to lie, I have sold a couple bootlegs in my time as well but I specifically stated in the auctions the word "BOOTLEG".

Selling boots with clear and right description is ok. That's what i tried to say. Of course manufacturing them is unforgivable act.

Doing 1:1 copies (Counterfeits) and selling them as original ones is a crime act to my mind.
Selling bootlegs that are clearly boots (Hot Metal etc.) is also not okay, but not that worse as the other case (in my opinion).

And yes, I do also have Boots of rare records since I haven't been willing/able to pay every price.

heavymetalmaniac wrote:I have noticed a few CD's, which are quite rare nowadays are meanwhile floating the market again, some Mausoleum Classix like Steelover/ Ace Lane/ Atlain/ Beast etc. which seem to be available again - at least some sellers have them in their lists for prices of around EUR 19,99. I have also seen Brainfever - Capture The Night, which was listed on Ebay some more times through the same seller. So what is this? Bootlegs or did someone find an overstock in some cellar? Regarding Brainfever: I am not taliing about the Sonic Age reissue which sounds VERY bad. I would be interested in an original Mausoleum Classix CD of this album but the situation seems to be quite unclear.
It's sad that you can't relly be sure nowadays what to get. But maybe someone here can clear the whole thing up a bit.

HMM.
Thanks! I am also need info about Mausoleum Classix very much! I've seen a few times information about Mausoleum Classix bootlegs on this forum, but still have no confirmation/refutation of this. I would be very appreciate if someone can help with it! Comparison with scans would be great!
I had one of these bootlegs come my way that was thrown in as a gift with a transaction that I did. It was the Syar - "Death Before Dishonour" album. I believe that I posted about it on these boards at the time and pointed out a seller on ebay that was circulating them. I threw the CD in the garbage after confirming that it was a bootleg so I can't do any scans for you but take my word for it. The matrix was identical but you can tell by the position. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find the post.

So here is scan of my Scavenger - Battlefields (Mausoleum Classix) cd.

I bought it from Markus Berger (maybe someone knows him)...he said that he purchased it from a guy that don't even listen to metal and have no idea about bootlegs etc., so he is pretty much certain that this is genuine copy....but i like to have your oppinion....THANX!

Markus is an old mate of mine and I know that he is not selling consciously any boots at his shop.
If this CD is not an original one then I think he did not know about it (what you guessed too, I think).

Not THE information you wanted to know but I thought it also could be "helpful" for you.

Thanx, i know he is reliable guy, just too many little details he puts on every cd, so i got no doubts...anyway, every M.Classix cd has it's own matrix number, isn't that expensive to boot all the serie??? Does anyone know the process of puting matrixes...anyone from some band or got friend from one?? Or nowadays even this becomes cheap?

They have their own pressing plant, or one on call that doesn't care about intellectual property rights. A different master is necessary for each bootleg CD's audio, matrix is a part of that. So each one is made different for identification purposes. It can be whatever the factory/"label" wants.

Your cd has the exact same type of matrix number and font and made in the same plant that my crossfire and ostrogoth mausoleum classix cds have, so it should be legit, unless they somehow managed to bootleg the matrix number exactly like with that target master project genesis boot, but 99% chance its legit.

The matrix on the "Master Project Genesis" bootleg is not identical. It has flaws.

Yes they do exist =)

The Toxik one (RoadRunner version ?) you can see if it's a boot instantly, in the upper side of the cd there is RR 95722 instead of RR 9572 2 (yes they forgot a space lol !)

At least 3 different Dreamweaver CD boots that I know of (and I haven't followed this much in a couple years, may be more now).
