As for nwobhm, the mid rarities get cheaper, but the top rarities are getting (a lot) more expensive.
That one's been near the thousand-dollar mark for several years now. The funny thing is that it's not really that rare compared to several other nwobhm singles. I've seen at least 1 copy of Tyrant offered for sale every year since the early-mid '00s. Based on that, I'd assume there are at least a few dozen copies already in collectors' hands. Singles like Demolition, Midas, Stormqueen, and others show up less frequently but sell for around the same amount; $750-$1,000.

I'm not sure why so many folks are willing to pay so much for Tyrant in particular; it's a good single but it's not the rarest or the best IMO. Heck, it doesn't even have a cool picture sleeve to make folks drool :) Only things I can think of that might give it a leg up are that the reissues may have generated a lot of interest on this one, and it does have a gallopy, epic fantasy vibe that people love but is somewhat uncommon in nwobhm

Would like to have it myself, but no way in the world I'd give that much for it, not even close

Guess they didn't realize this isn't an original. Wonder how many thousands of dollars Dave's made off this pressing?

Does this record usually sell this high? I didn't think it was THAT rare

Yeah that Emerald is cheap, not sure how i missed that one.

SANTA BARBARA 1988 comp, that is a reasonable price for an lp that turns up only every 4-5 years or less.

And people wonder why some folks make bootlegs
Yeah. I saw this one. I was wondering what the hell it was as I had never heard of it. I also noticed the usual members of the private metal gestapo were all bidding on it!

That re-press/boot has been discussed on this site in some other threads. There were copies originally done on clear vinyl, but this is not one of them. Dave pressed up 100 new copies on clear vinyl sometime between 2000-2005 I think, and he sells them as 'test pressings', usually listing 1 about every 6 months. They're easy to tell apart from the orig clear vinyl copies. The re-pressed copies typically bring $50-100, though the last few have been selling higher, more like $100-$150. But for $285, you could probably get an orig clear vinyl copy- if you can find one.

GULP, $1150!

Glad I got mine in a trade about 10 years ago for basically a couple hundred.
I do know that old time collector Paul Rote never found this record even though it was always on his wantslist back in the day and Mr. Cranford didn't have one either, so it is possible only a few copies have made it abroad.

Imo, its killer stuff! Typical German Metal with an awesome vocalist....Listen to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Skc16vvoh7E

I always wanted to have it, but it seems I never will....I did not know that its that pricy, though I always wondered that it really never appears anywhere....

I agree, though it is far more than the other 2 copies I've seen on eBay. I think the sound samples really helped the seller in this case.
