Overlorde (who released Keeper of the Flame on Metal Massacre 8(?)) - In The Year 2525

Unfortunately there's no youtube clips for it. Didn't actually know this was even a cover until recently... was quite a surprised to see how many people have covered it!

Original - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tLTb4P1HD8
Laibach - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4D7L-PB ... re=related
Visage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhKaOjSq ... re=related
Fields of the Nephilim - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMr3bK1N ... re=related

and there's heaps of others too!

The Dutch death metal band Eternal Solstice also did a cover of this song. I like the original version a lot.

That's a great song indeed, but I haven't heard Riot's take on it yet. Ramones also covered this one on their FAN-TAS-TIC "Acid Eaters"-album!

Some other covers I really like :

TYPE O NEGATIVE - "Black Sabbath"
PLACE OF SKULLS - "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (The Animals)
LUCIFERION - "Blasphemer" (Sodom)
SANCTUARY - "White Rabbit" (Jefferson Airplane)
CROWBAR - "No Quarter" (Led Zeppelin)
ABSU - "Deathcrush" (Mayhem)

Good cover-albums :

DECEASED - "Zombie Hymns" (still looking for "Rotten To The Core")
VADER - "Future Of The Past" (but NOT the Black Sabbath and Depeche Mode-covers...awful!)
METALLICA - "Garage Inc."
NAPALM DEATH - "Leaders Not Followers" (part 1 and 2)
NATIVITY IN BLACK : A Tribute To Black Sabbath" (the first one, from 1994)

Does anyone have PUNGENT STENCH's cover of the early 80's German electro-doom-Masters WARNING's "Why Can't The Bodies Fly" to share? Always wanted to hear that one...

I saw Solitude Aeturnus do an amazing cover of The Apparition (Fates Warning) in the 90s. I just wish I could find an audio version of it.

I know Golden Earring, but I hadn't even heard of the original. The song is from an album released in 1991  and not the cover isn't very good. The original is better, but isn't that interesting either.

Oh, and nowhere near anything remotely related to heavy metal.
