Picture are decent, but not even close for being a top dutch band imo. They sound pretty dated and simple for my ears. The howling of "Hail Satan" alone on Future Tense's Sword of Vengeance desecrates easily every album they made.
Good against Evil, Evil sure to win

...and today I think I have to conclude that this album is just one step too far over the "dated HR"-edge for my tastes.DaN wrote:The only PICTURE album I ever got into was that Darkness-something.. I think I have a copy of "Diamond Dreamer" laying around somewhere.. OK, I'll give it another shot tonight.Korgüll wrote:I also have to say PICTURE as well. "Diamond Dreamer' is great!
It's funny how much of a gray area this is. For instance: I've been listening a lot to stuff like MORE, early RIOT and various old Swedish Hard Rock lately and the details that make this or that band sound metallic are VERY subtle. I think I'll write about about it. Tomorrow.

ONLY KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I quite like SH & I like the fact the album is a 'uneasy' listen. I tend to find the albums that I enjoy the most are the ones that don't instantly grab me... but I think JP & TF are better (IMO)

Why does every thread finally lead to SATANS HOST? Well however, can't say I don't like it, haha.
Guess its really time for a new SH thread, I'll put something up.

This topic has been silent for a long period.
In the past we agreed that the dutch 80's metal scene had its times. We've procuded a number of classic metal records and 7's.
There are few 'very' obscure pieces to be found. Also prices have been dropping I think.
Ive been collecting dutch metal for some time, and im wondering whats out there?
What would you guys say, are the rarest bunch dutch 80's heavy metal records?

Re: Dutch Steel
I know quite well the 80's dutch scene and for me in Europe after the british and the swedish, dutch metal is the best.
Then they surrended completely to Death Metal.
To conclude - Holland comes forward to French, Spanish, Italian or even German Metal.
And most of their best stuff was only released on tape and now reissued on CD :

Another lonely night, another no name town
it starts to look the same, it starts to bring me down
so many promises you knew I'd never keep
I'll make it up to you, baby, don't give up on me

Re: Dutch Steel
Always thought Picture were fucking class. Diamond Dreamer is great I really enjoy the speedier numbers but the slower more mid paced jams are chill too. "The Hangman" and "You're All Alone" are stone cold fuckin classics.
