Post by Prowler »

Guess the book that John Haupt was trying to release a couple of years back is finally being available soon:

Released via Sonic Age...

So it finally happened..
A must-buy of corpse.

Can't help wondering though, is that Canadian GENOCIDE on the front really in demand? Found it in Stockholm ages ago but eventually got rid of it because it's barely even trad HR...

The point of the book isn't to list in demand items, the point is to be as extensive as humanly possible. Many of the 45s in the book will be quite bad, frankly.

Hence the need to also consult a certain little review project on this very site. :-)

The book is basically a discogs list of die-hard rock/metal 45''s. Expected much more for this asking price and the vast knowledge of the writer on the subject. I prefer the ''heroes-of-the-metal-underground'' book which includes interesting stories, interviews etc although the latter clearly lucks unbiased reviews of the albums presented.

THIS! John is the GOAT of US Metal Archeology, but some of us Metal nurds need those reviews and pointers to know that to really put on our want lists in the end..

No it isn't a discogs list. The research predates the existence of said website. Are most on discogs now? Of course. That is not the purpose of the book.

That book in places is a total mess when it comes to the listing of the singles. To find something special you're quickly looking for is impossible because everything is wildly mixed and confused. Wasn't there enough time to create a kind of concept, both of the content and layout? That's where you start first while writing a book, not mixing stuff just how it comes to your mind. Sure, it's informative, but not nearly "complete" and in the first a total mess. Sorry...
