2007 - ratings, best releases, etc.

Post by Noisenik »

A thread for placing fresh releases into proper "locations", rating and ranting.

At the moment, I'd say the best release from this year is PORTRAIT's Into The Nothingness. Then there's a gap, then the rest would came. How come I couldn't remind mslf what was released this year :? Temporary amnesia?

I would say Municipal Waste - The Art Of Partying and Pagan Altar - Mythical & Magical (or was it released late 2006??). Very different style of music but still, two very very good records.

This is a rather strange album, it's quite difficult to get into it, but after several listenings, it's really interesting : a mixture of black metal and doom metal with some atmospheric elements. The vocals are totally insane, not the typical B-M shrieks but a very haunting and desesperate way of singing.

I don't know any of their other releases, it's a friend of mine who convinced me to listen to this album, a very good discovery finally.

The only album that came out this year so far that I've bought and liked is Manowar - Gods of War.

I thought I'd made it perfectly clear that SARCOFAGUS - Core Values is the best one so far? :?

What else.. Dunno if PAGAN ALTAR was this year or '06, the PORTRAIT 7" was great but I actually liked the demo better.. hm, I'm lousy with keeping up with all the new stuff.

That one's been growing on me. At first I wasn't really into it because of the production/mastering, but most of the songs are really good. I think it might have been mastered incorrectly, because I hear some weird clicking noises during a few of the songs.

What's this one like? I loved Voice of Wilderness, but I didn't think Tales Along This Road was as good.

I consider it their best one yet, they drop a lot of the goofy stuff but I suppose thats why alot of people like them, they focused more on songwriting and they toned down the over powering of the accordion takes a back seat this time around but its still there I suppose it just takes a different role and the better riffs are appearent, but I don't like suggesting stuff too often as you might even hate it haha.

I will say the new Paragon is my favorite out of all of them this year though I don't have much to say about it,just download it if you can everyone.

Well, yeah, there's a lot of material. I thought it'd be great to see how members relate to them, plus I think some stats are necessary. :)
