Riot posted this on their facebook a few minutes ago:
To friends and fans of Mark Reale and Riot,
We are deeply saddened to confirm that Mark has lost his battle with a lifelong illness.

I could see it coming when I heard the bad news some weeks ago. This is the end of one of the greatest metal bands. RIP, Mark.

Perhaps the best combination there was for a genius guitar player that could actually also compose some of the best songs ever in metal music.RIP
