New MORBID ANGEL album - Illud Divinum Insanus

Post by omen of hate »

I know there are some early Death-Metal freaks registered here. What's your opinion on the long-awaited new MORBID ANGEL album. I haven't bought it yet, but I'm a little afraid by what I've read aout it here and then. I know the album is rather experimental but I've read some comments saying some tracks sound like WHITE ZOMBIE or MARYLIN MANSON  !!

Any opinions ?

Well, I already made posts about it in the "Crap song of the day" and "Last nu-metal album you bought" threads so I guess that says pretty much what I think of this album.
The pure Death Metal songs are just boring, there are some half Death groovish songs similar to some of those in Domination which are pretty lame (like as Domination) and then you have the Marilyn Manson/Nine Inch Nails/Rammstein like tracks which are... like Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and Rammstein
At least they seem to not play any of the shittier tracks live, just the mediocre ones and all the classics, so if you can put up with 40 year old David Vincent in PVC shirts dancing to Death Metal songs and posing, I guess the concerts are still worth going to.

Yeah, it's pretty terrible. I didn't expect it to be any good though. Everything up to and including "Alters of Madness" is godlike death metal; the rest is ok/average at best.

This is pretty hilarious:

Aarg, the situation is worse than I thought !! :(
Even I've always wonder why they brought back David Vincent in the band.
"Formulas ..." and "Gateways ..." were way better than "Domination", another legend dies, sad !

This album sounds like a disaster! I have not seen one person praising it yet.

Give it 15 years and it will be regarded as a cult classic though...

You shouldn't buy it. It's crap, pure crap.

Heretic appears to be a masterpiece next to Illud. :?

Not at all indeed. It's really bad mix of techno/death, think of second-rank Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Manson.

Seriously Illud Divinum is the biggest "fuck off" to fans since St Anger.

I'd compare it more to Cold Lake than St. Anger because of the genre change but I guess they're both as shitty (never heard St. Anger complete). It's pretty funny though, I'd reccomend everybody to listen to it once, or at least the shitty songs.
And after Altars I think my favorite one is Formulas. I was listening to it the other day and it holds up quite well. It would've been better if Pete Sandoval wasn't all over the drum kit all the fucking time.

Whole album is a joke haha. The "Death Metal" songs, god, I just hate the soulless triggered-sounding blastbeat crap.

SPK & NON were industrial. "Too Extreme!" is what should be known as Cyberbollocks.
