Post by Noisenik »

as is my wont for several years now ... I try to keep an eye on the fresh releases that may be of any kind of interest to us here ...

so far ...

KREATOR - Hordes of Chaos
VOIVOD - Infini
PESTILENCE - Ressurection Macabre
ARTILLERY - When Death Comes
BELIEVER - Gabriel
BEHERIT - Engram

I am esp. satisfied with Hordes Of Chaos.

Slough Feg - Ape Uprising (entertaining, but I liked Hardworlder better)
The Devil's Blood - Come, Reap EP (great, but not as insanely great as the demo, or 7'')

for me 2009 hasn't brought out the real masterpieces so far - I guess CANDLEMASS - Death Magic Doom is the best among them, HEAVEN & HELL - The Devil You Know and POWERWOLF - Bible of the Beast are quite decent.

@Noisenik: I also think the new KREATOR is not so bad - but expect the Hordes of Trveness to tar and feather you soon for only mentioning it!

Sten, if you like Drawing Down The Moon, you will surely need this. Of course, you will have to wait for vinyl version. Pretty good IMHO.

Oh man, I have downloaded it and I was expecting it to be good and then you write this :( Will post once I've given it half a dozen thorough listens.

The best release in this year has been PROCESSION - The Cult Of Disease so far... I am really excited about their first full length which is gonna be out in autumn.

Other great pieces of steel are:

IN SOLITUDE - s/t
RAM - Lightbringer
SLOUGH FEG - Ape Uprising!
STRIKER - Road Warrior EP
DARK FOREST - s/t

Per-Ola, what has disappointed you on that one? The fact that they're still not going to 80's or they're worse than on EoG? IMO, HoC is at least a class higher than EoG.

IN SOLITUDE - same (very entertaining, love it)
REALMBUILDER - Summon The Stone Throwers (weird)
HIGH SPIRITS - Demo CD (great)
SIGN OF THE JACKAL - Haunted House Tapes (even better!)
ATLANTEAN KODEX - The Pnakotic Vinyls (must have)
CRYSTAL VIPER - Metal Nation (nothing sepcial)
RIPPER - The Dead Have Rizen (very nice)

And the best re-relase so far:
THRUSTER - M.I.A.
