if hyper rare then it is only natural that it is a gem ;)

It seems that there are many very obscure Death Metal albums from Switzerland that are also great albums! Thanks for the info friend!

not necessarily. For me "gem" = musically good. there are a lot of hyper rare and expensive CDs which just suck if you finally listen to them.

the only problem is you can't even find them if you live here. you have to be very lucky... never seen Equimanthorn or Supremacy anywhere and I was in a lotta second hand stores or at flea markets in different regions.

second that again.

Many album were meant to remain unknown. so average, they are in fact bad. Bad.

I was having a laugh at the tendency to treat all very rare albums as "lost gems of the genre" when in fact they are often so rare and forgotten because they are shite or plain average at best.

Of course. But, still, we're always looking at the cds too much with that perspective. Why do we have that Arbitrater cd ? Is it a "lost gem" ?

It's average to good thrash. I don't own any albums that I think are weak or not in my musical taste even if they are rare. Sold many albums for this reason. But this is a different thing. I can understand that someone keeps a shitty album because it's rare as long as he doesn't say its great.

In the end it's always a matter of tastes ^^ you didn't like that Living Death album and sold the cd if I remember well :)
If Grimlord thinks Damnation Call is good musically, then ok (I don't know that album in its entirety so I can't say much about it).
Ghost slays and I hope I'll find it before or after.

I hear you! Most of these rare releases seems the they were self released by the bands, so I believe it was difficult to obtain them even back then! I only say that because I don't remember any foreign or domestic fanzine mention any Swiss Death Metal bands(well, beside the obvious bands), so the Swiss DM scene literally remained well-hidden even by the underground freaks(haha). Sorry for derailing the thread but I'd really like an opinion by anyone who now if my thoughts are true or false!
Anyway Grimlord, you already have a GREAT collection with the best music possible! Wish you the best obtaining those wants of yours!
