NWOBHM CDs

Post by Shiremen »

What record label has done a really good job re-releasing old NWOBHM albums on CD? And where can I find songs that were only released as singles, I want them remastered on CD. I do love the albums the Japanese releases on SHM-CD, but they release very few NWOBHM albums :(

Castle Music did a real good job on the Holocaust reissues and the Neat Singles Collections. Maybe they did some more releases.

Then you have the Neat Metal CDs from the late 90s.

British Steel records made some reissue on CD (Heritage, witchfynde, Savage...) and made two (or three, I don't remember exactly, I'm not at home) CD with some NWOBHM rare singles.

A very interesting series of CDs with nwobhm singles was pressed by the record store Vinyl Tap. They are know as the MIS records CD (are unofficial, but with a very good selection of songs; audio quality is good but are not remasterd, are taken from vinyl).

Also exist a series of CD bootleg with NWOBHM singles (same kind of the U.S. metal rarities on CD). I don't have these and I don't know the audio quality.

Digital Steel released more than ten years ago 4 CD with NWOBHM singles. These CDs are remastered with a veru great audio quality. The problem is these CDs were never released for sale; I don't know how many copies were pressed...

Warepire is right; Neat singles collections and Castle re-released some others interesting thing (Neat records issued some cds with the original singles from '80s, very good issue)

I don't know OF others singles compilation on CD.

I bought these 4 Digital Steel CD's when they came out. Later on I realised that these CD's were CD-R's, which totally lost all their content. From the first view you did not see that they were CD-R's but a closer look and you can clearly see it. Fortunately I saved the music, so that at least I still have it.

So, definetly good quality bootlegs? Little remasters of music from good quality vinyls?
Could you add scans of these CDs or rather CDRs ?

yes! also my CD's totally lost their content!
I had these from the author of the site in trade for a CD when released.
Luckely I have all items on vinyl. So, now, are not so important for me.
Was very difficult to see if they were CD-R;
SOmetime you can find these on ebay, but I think there are others copies that lost their content;

Yes, all of a sudden, the website was gone - unfortunately, since back then they had plans to release a couple of NWOBHM gems. This was before I realised that the CD's were CD-R's.

However, back when I ordered the CD's/ CD-R's I waited for weeks/ months and nothing arrived. Fortunately he sent a second batch, so I got them in the end. Meanwhile I only have four CD-R's which won't be recognized in any CD Player... . :cry:

However, since I have the stuff saved it's not such a big loss but still I feel like I have paid for nothing in the end.

HMM.

Majestic Rock also did the last Quartz album "Against All Odds". I think the label folded before all the copies where shipped, because this one is close to impossible to find.
