A database of lost inserts - new site feature!

One of the greatest dilemma of human existence as we know it is of course the one with The Missing Insert. Numerous threads on this forum testifies to this. So, in my quest to always expand and grow The Corroseum webpage I've pondered on this new, less trivia-nerdy and more practical feature: A huge database of hi-res scans of inserts and innersleeves - primarily from albums that commonly misses them.

Great idea, huh?

Well, I can see a few arguments against it, but I'd like to counter-argue them 'live' rather than rant, so let let me know what you think.

Edit - It' has begun.

IMPORTANT:
If you wish to contribute:
- Set the scanner to full-color, photo-quality.
- Size should be at least 300dpi
- Do NOT use any scanning-wizard, hi-contrast or other enhancement presets (except maybe a de-screening function if necessary..)
- The size when scanning should be at least 300dpi
- NO cut edges
- Save as maximum quality jpg's or uncompressed images (.tif, .bmp etc...) and upload or mail them to to me.

The request-list:

BLACK TASK - s/t MLP (red version!)
HELL - Save Us.. 7" (the very elusive Folder-edition!)
SHOCKSPLIT - Under Wraps MLP
Vengeance "Way Past Go/Driving Force" 7"
V/A - The Lost Tapes Of Cogumelo LP
BLASPHEME (FR) - s/t
MARQUIS DE SADE (UK) - Somewhere Up In The Mountains 7''
DRUID (US) - Four Curses EP
RUDE PINK (US) - Someone Tonight 7''
ANTIX ‎– Baptism Of Fire MLP
VULCANO - Live! LP
MESSIAH - Extreme Cold Weather LP
INTRUDER - Live To Die LP
CLIENTELLE - Destination Unknown LP
SAVAGE GRACE - Master Of Disguise LP (Important Rec. inner sleeve)
Explorer - Exploding

I support idea, although I do not hunt inserts. Lately I barely see the shelves vinyls are on.

Also, here already a lot of goodies could be and can be obtained, and without much contribution.

and congrats to ARC for turning around after quite some time.

Good Idea. Need one for my Hyksos lp, so you can start there :)

I was expecting someone to argue that this is problematic since it would make it possible for dishonest dealers to print fake 'original' inserts to rare titles, but I'd counter-argue and say it's damn near impossible to make a modern print look exactly like a 30 year old original. And if someone would make a damn near perfect copy, does it even matter anymore?</philosophy-mode>

Another dilemma is what to include and what not to. Theoretically I could make a huge db of every insert and printed innersleeve ever produced with an 80's metal vinyl, but I figure I/we could try to first pick out and concentrate on releases were they're often missing.

Anyways, work is now in progress. The plan is to only publish top-quality scans in pro-printer-friendly 300dpi, include info on paper quality & color, and NO lazy scans - i.e. not one millimeter of missing artwork! For example, I just scanned the complete WILD PUSSY folder insert. This took a total of 12 scans and 2 hours of meticulous puzzling in Photoshop, but it's now 100% complete and properly done.

Ha! One of my main "wants" as well. A perfect example on one of those titles that misses the insert way more often than not.

More wants from me:
THE HAND OF DOOM - Poisonoise LP
HAMMERHAWK - Breaks Loose MLP
VALKYRIA(rus) - s/t LP
BLACK TASK - s/t MLP
SHOCKSPLIT - Under Wraps MLP
WITCHHAMMER - 1487 LP
HELL - Save Us.. 7" (the very elusive Folder-edition!)

Let's hear more wants/suggestions of good titles to include + let me know if you're able to help.

Missing the fan club insert for WHITE NIGHT - Death Rendez-vous, so if someone could help out, that would be appreciated.

Only have the HAMMERHAWK and SHOKSPLIT inserts. I'll try to find a decent scanner but not skilled to work with photoshop.

If you can fix complete and full colour (important in order to filter out yellowing without messing with grayscales) 300dpi scans in bitmap or tiff format, you can just scan it in parts (if necessary), zip, upload and mail me a download link and I'll do the ps work.

Edit: same procedure for anyone who wants to contribute of course.

I'll ask my wife to scan BLACK TASK insert tomorrow.
I can't even program a digicorder, so will depend on her kindness.
