How do you store your collection?

I have a really old late 70's ugly wooden tv set that has spaces for LP's - but it's getting too small... I have to find another storing solution soon.

For CD's, I have a wall of these:

but I am also running out of space and have towers all over the house of falling CD's... hahaha. They are too fucking expensive!! Me and my fancy tastes.

My shelves come from IKEA.

For the CD's and 7"-singles I use "BILLY" and for my LP's I use "EXPEDIT".

I also use the "EXPEDIT" from IKEA. However, I am storing my LPs in a way I haven't read about in this forum. I hate ringwear. So I store the sleeves and the records separately. Even on different shelves. So, I put the sleeve in a plastic sleeve and the actual LP in another plastic sleeve. Then I put a small sticker ON each of the plastic sleeves, numbered stickers, so I know which record belongs to each sleeve. Works as a charm

. Costs me double as I have to buy 2 sleeves for each album though...

That system you've got there seems a tad over-ambitious. How many records are we talking about? Have you let your friends and relatives know about how to deal with it if something fatal would strike you? My guess is you wouldn't want to see those sleeves and records eternally separated. One should care for one's records even beyond the realms of death.

Ringwear, to me, may well give the record both patina and soul. But then again I mostly buy/collect records that I want to play and not so much different pressings and such (even if that happens too).

I think I have around 500-600 LPs at the moment.

I used to collect vinyl singles with Black Sabbath. After a while it became expensive. It was very hard to find copies for less than $100 each. And then I noticed that copies that I had owned for only 3 or 4 years, and in some instances paid more than $100 each for, was in worse condition then when I bought them. The ringwear had come from them being way to close to each other.

I play my LPs, but I want the sleeves to stay in such good condition as they were when I bought them.

a while ago i got some shelving units from rutgers university surplus:

both cost about $5... i had the wooden one for a few years before i got the metal one. used one part of the wooden oen for some lps which was not a good idea, as the wood buckled quite a bit

for 7"s i use modified 6-pack holders:

havent been able to find a better solution within my price range as of yet. they are kind of a pain in the ass
