You're gonna be getting requests for HQ scans of those olde record store bags for a new section of the forum which your pix have inspired DaN to start.

That would be awesome! Wish I had kept all the bags from the countless record shops I 've visited during the glory days of (physical) record hunting!bigfootkit wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 2:07 am You're gonna be getting requests for HQ scans of those olde record store bags for a new section of the forum which your pix have inspired DaN to start.![]()

I made my comment in jest, but yeah it would actually be fascinating to see a large collection of old record shop bags if such an archive could be amassed. And knowing the completist nature of record collectors i wouldn't be that surprised to find that there were obsessives who kept or actively collected bags on their travels. The Ripper wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 4:50 pmThat would be awesome! Now I wish I had kept all that ol' Rec Rec and Vinilmanija record shop bags. Never dawned on me this is part of rock /heavy metal reliqvarivm, too. Ehh...

Nor me, they were just constant ephemera back in the days of abundant physical stores but now you're making me wish i'd kept my original Shades Records carrier bag from a London holiday in 1985.

Graham, I have actually found the bags I was talking about, I can't believe I actually preserved them. Vinil Manija bags came in various colors, but I don't think this was intentional. More like, the print color you want is unavalaible, d'ya fancy some purple? And kudos to DaN for heads up regarding attachments.

Very cool. Is that Max Cavalera chowing down on some vinyl in the lower design? Looks like him with the similar maniac glint in the eye.

After a long time "hello again".
One question: does anyone remember the name of a record shop somewhere in Stockholm, close to a T-bana-station/Gågatan that looked like a total mess.
Not sure if there was a top floor that was halfway decent and a ground floor/basement that was absolutely messy with tenthousands and tenthousands of records unsorted on piles, heaps, shelves, the floor... where you could hardly move without bringing one of the basement pillars (made of vinyls) into destruction...
I guess it's closed since long, but I am wondering about the name/location of that shop if anyone remembers.

Planning a return to Sthlm? Was it 20+ years since last time @ my ol' place?
That description fits a number of old stores, so more clues are needed. Do you remember the actual T-station? My best guess would be this one, at St. Eriksgatan:

...but they haven't had any decent HM stuffs for the last 10 years I'm afraid.
Re: (Metal) Recordstores in Stockholm ?
Probably yes, I think I was 2007 last time in Stockholm. But at least two more times in GBG in 2019 and 2020.
I can't remember which shop it was. Total mess in the lower part of the shop - which I really liked - though I can't find my Stockholm map with all the markings anymore. Maybe that map is somewhere in my cellar in some box, but yeah. Doesn't matter, just wanted to remember the name of that shop. Thanks Dan. Your link doesn't look familiar though.
Let's see when I return again to Sthlm. Maybe in the coming 5 years once again, who knows

Re: (Metal) Recordstores in Stockholm ?
I only spend a night in Stockholm and hit at least 3/4 shops that DaN recommended me. Trash Palace/Nostalgipalatset, Serie & Skivhandel, and Record Hunter. I must say Trash Palace is an awesome shop! Saw a copy of OG Universe for a fuck ton of money as well as shit ton of Japanese pressings. I laugh myself when I found Satan Servants (Infamous Metal Enterprise record) at the Metal section. Wish I took photos lol
If your quite frugal, Stadsmission Second Hand and Myrorna has records for less than 200 SEK
Here's the bag of Trash Palace, sucks that some shops only have basic bag with no logo lol

Re: (Metal) Recordstores in Stockholm ?
Thrash Palace even had proper shoulder bags before, but think they're currently sold out. Yup, great HUGE store - or storeS actually since they're sorta 2-in-one..
Too bad you missed out on An Ideal For A Living. I'd argue it's the best store in town since they really make an effort to find obscure stuff in any genre and are ever so often off on hunting-trips to make their stock 1" above the rest...

Re: (Metal) Recordstores in Stockholm ?
Yeah, I missed that one. I mostly walk from my hotel, didn't take transit. It would be effective if I did. Oh well, next time I would definitely hit that store up before Trash Palace!DaN wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 11:54 pm Too bad you missed out on An Ideal For A Living.
