Production is shit, songs are extremely simple and the playing is very, very untight.
Yes. Indeed a killer Rock'n'Roll album 8)

Actually, I despise those first two Sodom records.

You must be kidding! "In the sign of evil" is my favorite thrash album of all times! Motorhead meets Tank meets Discharge blackness all the way! 100 / 10 !!!!
Sodom's In the Sign of evil is one of the highlights of thrash metal music.I don't understand why someone wrote bad production(?) the production is far more better than obsessed by cruelty.Second it contains only killer songs the ones that a thrash metal band should write.Third it is the debut album of one of the best drummers ever Witchhunter(when you come back?).Fourth it contains also the most VIOLENT of its time song ever performed BURST COMMAND TIL WARRRR!!!And last TA SPAEI OLA!

Ever noticed how the lead riff in "Outbreak Of Evil" is a total rip-off of MC5's classic "Kick Out The Jams"? Not that it make it any less a classic, quite the opposite...

"Obsessed.." was indeed a letdown. With even a half-decent production it could have been legendary, but as it is now... No.

there is still something I don't get... a lot of people don't like Obsessed By Cruelty for wrong reasons. a lot of them state the album is sloppy and rather simple, repetitive, that kind of shit. still, Obsessed By Cruelty is way more varied, has way more riffs, more tempochanges than anything Frank Godzik did write. listen to "Deathlike Silence" and then to "Conjuration"...

Gonna have to raise the German flag:

METAL INQUISITOR!!!

And in terms of thrash metal: WITCHBURNER and OLD. Especially the latter kick some serious ass. Oldschool as fuck!!!

I agree on names like Metal Inquisitor, TTD, Slough Feg and whatever named. Gotta add:

RAM
Great Priestish- metal, killer live. Saw 'em saturday in Germany again, KILLER Mercyful Fate cover ("Evil").

ATTACKER
Their new one rages indeed. Great live band too.

NIGHTMARE
Excellent band from Colombia, with a lot of West-European influence. Even covered Acid on their demo!

ENFORCER
Good new Swedish Exciter-like band.

PORTRAIT
Good new Swedish band too. Very evil sounding stuff with a lot early MF-influences.

METHUSALEM
Good new Dutch band which has line-up problems all the time. Good heavy/power metal with obvious Maiden influences. Good live band!

POWERVICE
Plain old NWOBHM-like metal from Holland. Killer live band.

Of course there's still great metal, even though I can't name any 90's or 2000- record (maybe a few) which can beat the 'originals'.

Heathen Hoof vocals are retarded in a good way. I hope
Ari decides to record more HH stuff.

Almost all 80's bands are now weak and gay.

Vicious Rumors new one seems to be pretty kick ass, although their only original member is Geoff Thorpe they have the old school great James Rivera on vocals on this album.
