Canadians WIKKA

Post by DaN »

Another golden oldie I felt I needed to review. I noticed there's both a compilation CD out on Cult Metal Classics as well as a Snakepit/NWN co-op 7". Haven't heard them yet so if anyone has, let's hear your thoughts on these, or the band in general.

I love the MLP, but I never really got onto the 7" tracks, or the additional ones on CD comp, just average IMO.

The EP is pretty good, not a top favorite though. I got the CMC CD a while back and only heard it once so far, none of the unreleased tracks left a lasting impression on me. I guess the 4 EP tracks are the heaviest thing they ever did.

Forgotten Vision is a killer track.
The dark ballad Reflections is also pretty good.

My favourite song of theirs is "Beware of the King", I really love the chorus. The rest of the EP is good too, while their remaining tracks are sort of hit'n'miss.

EDIT: As for the review:
has there ever been a bad Metal tune about Egypt?
I can't tell, I have never heard Nile and I am not going to.

I'm with the majority here. Always thought the EP was great stuff.

I've never heard anything else the band ever did though.

This is a favourite of mine. That MLP is a real treasure; 4 killer songs not to be missed . Somehow reminds me of WASP's debut. I recently bougt that CMC CD and heard the other songs for the first time; great ones too but the EP tracks are the best they did.

Amon-Ra (In the Company of the Gods) were image-wise all Egyptian, but I can't remember any song even remotely connected to it ;)

If you see Patrik - ask him if he still recall the portuguese he met here in Lisbon around 2000/2001 and that we made tape trading just right after for a couple of years...
Say hi to him. I lost his track completely.
