The Sentinel wrote:The old Spanish scene rules like hell, I really can't get enough of it. Favourite albums from this country:

EXODO: The New Babylon
MURO: Acero Y Sangre and Telon de Acero
SANTA: Reencarnacion
GOLIATH: Same, apart from 2 tracks, which are shite IMO
CROM: Both albums slay
ANGELES DEL INFIERNO: Pacto Con El Diablo and Diabollica

And more...I still need to check out bands like ADN, MAZO, second THOR etc
Killer tastes that you have !
it could be mine if someone requested me to tell which were the best spanish releases in the 80's !
(but i'm suspect: i'm a spanish metal lover ! )

The top Spanish metal stuff is:

HADES MLP (already mentioned above)
EXODO ''the new babylon''
ZEUS 7'' (in this single is included the best spanish metal song - b side)
THARNA LP

of course there are more rare LPs than above but not that good (EXTASIS, MIOPIA are two of them)

track 15 from Zarpa's - Infierno [Cielo Al Atardecer], has a really great opening riff, I like that alot! and I really like the guitar sound of Crom - Wasteland too.

ACRACIA's "La Otra Sevilla" LP is starting to sound more and more like The Greatest Spanish Metal LP Ever to me. Am I alone in this delusion? Beautiful, unique fingerspitzgefül-riffing and Heavy Metal Craftmanship - all killers no fillers! Old Spanish Metal tends to disappoint me more often than not, but this one's just a seamless rippin' rockin' rocket of Steel! Move over EVO, and tell MAZO the news :D

It's a surprise for me to see that so many bands known outside Spain, which are unknown even here in Spain.
Apart from all the albums and bands that have spoken, I would like to recommend:

OBUS "El que más"
ASPID "Oscura reflexión"
BANZAI "Duro y Potente"
THE STORM " The Storm"
ÑU: "Cuentos de ayer y de hoy"

I like a lot spanish Metal!! I like Metal on all languages but spanish and brasilian (portuguese) are definitely my faves.
I think that in the 80s almost countrys had a great Metal scene. Of course US and the UK were by far the best! And always there have been good and bad stuff or average.
Everybody talks about Acracia album but i think that are only 3 or 4 songs good on it, and the rest is boring and average. Also Crom and Cadena Perpetua are in the same as Acracia.

Some of my faves:

Santa - Reencarnacion
Barón Rojo - Volumen Brutal
Subterraneo - Toledo
Muro - Acero y Sangre
Angeles del Infierno - Pacto con el Diablo
Angeles del Infierno - Diabolicca
Hades - Entre El Fuego Y La Cruz
Zeus - Dama De Hierro 7"
Tharna - La Invasión
Magia Negra - Magia Negra
Zero - En la batalla
Panzer - salvese quien pueda
Halley - Halley
Sheilan - Sheilan
EVO - Animal de Ciudad
Obús - Prepárate
Mazo - Mazo

From the 70s: The Storm, Tapiman

But as I said: i´m a spanish Metal lover :D

Good Spanish Metal singles !
RIGOR MORTIS guitarist was who started LEGION after R.M. split up.
What do you think about LEGION? in Spain were considered the most important thrash metal band at that time ... personally I find ANESTHESIA or ESTIGIA much better.

I have a CD version of Telon de acero on Avispa records. Were Acero y Sangre or Pacto de Sangre reissued at any point? Why the %*&¤"#*%*¨ is the tracklist different? Is the release of Telon de Acero official?

Finally: How fucking good is Telon de Acero! Have had it for years, but hadn't played for a few when I put it on this morning. It slays totally! Some of the better speed metal I have ever heard.

Here is my top Spanish stuff list. Stuff have already mentioned in here but ok those are my tops.

Angeles del Infierno - Pacto con el Diablo
Angeles del Infierno - Diabolicca
Barón Rojo - Volumen Brutal
Crom - Steel For An Age
Exodo - The New Babylon
Excalibur - Generación Maldita
Goliath - Same
Hades - Entre El Fuego Y La Cruz
Muro - Acero y Sangre
Tharna - La Invasión
Zeus - Dama De Hierro 7"

In general I worship exotic Steel. Well... Metal when singed in other languages than English simply rules. My top preference is Japanese, then comes Spanish and French
