Has Formel I been mentioned yet?

I also like Heavens Gate (follow-up to Steeltower, same singer) and Battlefield, Pink Cream 69 and Czakan (melodic). Monroxe (think early Warlock) is lesser known ...

Biest was the best band from the DDR that released anything on vinyl in the 80's. They put out a four track 7" in 1987. Great speed metal sung in German.

That's not really correct, they have been the heaviest but best are still the Merlin and Hardholz trax on the Speed Up compilation. Biest at live gigs had been a bit disastrous. On the 7" they used a drum computer btw (decision of the studio owner and producer). Also the aforementioned Formel 1 had been great live and on vinyl, though more NWOBHM clones. Their 7" is a little gem. Too bad that their album was live, though it has really great sound.

It's correct. If I didn't know it was correct, I would not have written it.

When talking about DDR Metal i'd also like to recommend the "Kleeblatt 22" compilation (1987), featuring MCB (Motörhead influenced HM), PLATTFORM (great female fronted HM) and COBRA (glammy HR/HM).

Hardholz (epic Power Metal):

Merlin:

I know these but I like Biest more. Also, since this compilation was released 1990 you could argue it doesn't challenge my actual statement, that Biest was the best DDR band that relesed something on vinyl... in the 80's.

I can recommend Salvage, their s/t effort from 1991. I bought it lately withought listening first (I like to do that sometimes) and I am pleasantly surprised. Nice melodic heavy metal.

There were some bands mentioned in the "Walls of jericho" lyricsheet (thanks list) I've never heard of: BABY STEEL, LAWLESS and a third one I don't remember at the moment.
Any info on these groups? I think they must have come from the Hamburg area like HELLOWEEN, perhaps some "demo only" bands?

For sure, the 80's Hamburg Metal scene has been huge!

"Could" is correct. 2 days left, so let's see for how much this is being sold.

For those who don't have a copy yet.
Seller has also a cool Zish LP for sale. Don't think it will be too expensive as it's still rather unwanted ...

And here's an underrated german top 10 (or even top 5) Melodic Metal LP below 20 E for those who also think Wheelz of Steel is trash:
