Viking - Man Of Straw
I do not know why people often shit on Do or Die. To me it's a neat little piece of raw, fast, chaotic thrash. I rather like it!
The title track, Prelude/Scavenger, Valhalla...all smokers. I haven't heard any shitting on it so far? It is pretty overlooked, though.
I haven't heard Man Of Straw, is it any good? It looks more like one of those shitty '88/'89 crossover thrash albums than the debut.
I heard many metal fans shitting on Do Or Die to the point of calling it unlistenable. Lots of people said the production job on that album makes it so. I just recently got the CD reissue (done by the band) and it's remastered so I cannot comment on it. I have grown to like it a lot - lots of speed and attitude to be had on that one. The vocals are also cool!
Man Of Straw is a bit different though. It's not crossover thrash by any stretch and it's still packs a lot of punch and aggression but has a more 'musical' approach to things. There are more melodies, tempo changes and more complex and technical passages. Still a good album in my mind.
Now listening to:
Future Tense - Final Cut (the almost-total discography of Future Tense)
Great heavy/speed steel right there! I only wish the CD was a normal jewelcase because I had glue the tray back to my digipack.
