I know it is not remembered as fondly as their first or especially second album but I think it's a damn fine piece of US steel. Not really modern (except that first track - weird one) and quite heavy at times. My favourites on this one would be the scorchers - like "Silent Rage", "Broken Neck" and especially "Politics Of Pain" with some molten solo work. Like the aggressive snarl in the vocals too!
I haven't heard it yet but was told it is not as good as the first two.
If you recommend the CD though then I think I'll give it a try.
See the flash of lightning cutting the edge of steel!

I would agree it is not as good but I rate the first two quite highly. But this one is worth a listen at least as it is not some modern stuff and some tracks are really killer. Try to give "Silent Rage" and "Politics Of Pain" a shot and see if you like them.

It's a disappointing effort. Period.

Some of my favorites, I really enjoy listening to this ones:

Arcane - Destination Unknown (1990)
Defcon - Suicide (1990)
Hexenhaus - The Edge Of Eternity (1990)
Deathblow - Meanless Propaganda (1991)
Dr Steel - Heaven or Hell (1991)
Ossian - Ítéletnap (1991)
Rotor - Tépj Szét Minden Láncot (1991)
Deathrow - Life Beyond (1992)
Mekong Delta - Kaleidoscope (1992)
Genetic Wisdom - The Fear Dimension (1993)
Carbide - Spiral Termination (1994)
Kröm Thunder - Attack Directe (1995)
Pariah - Unity (1998)

As can be seen, as the years go by fewer good albums were released, and the trend continues.

No mention of Metalucifer? Maybe that one is too obvious as stated in the original post

In addition to Metalucifer though, Magnesium's best material came out in the 90's

Hanker had some quality recordings in the 90's, In This World and The Dead Ringer

Armageddon (Korea)'s debut, Tears of a King Bird from 1990

Puls (Czech) wrote and recorded most of their material in the late 80's to early 90's but the CD was not released until 1999

Quicksand Dream's Aelin's Oath is some quality epic metal, very similar to what Atlantean Kodex is doing now

Definitely going to second Slander, the NWOBHM band that was born too late

Agent Steel - Omega Conspiracy
Hollow - Architect of the Mind
Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out In Space
Twisted Tower Dire - The Curse of the Twisted Tower
Sodom - Code Red
Fates Warning - Parallels & Inside Out
Soul Cages - S/t & Moments
Most os Savatage's output...

I could also list albums by Mayhem, Darkthrone, Dissection etc. but I won't :P
Remember kids, only high priced rarities are true...

The best of the traditional metal music nowadays can be found reading the pages of Snakepit Magazine..and the website truemetal.org can be a good place to find inspired acts.

Best stuff traditional metal nowadys I like is

Syris
Skullview
Cage
Benedictum
Malediction (France)
Anvil Chorus "Killing the sun"
Hell (the new CD) I have the 2 disc version with the 1982 demo tracks.

.................................

after Snakepit, if you dig through this webzine, you can find tons of older gems, that are pretty killer.

Thank you CORROSEUM !!!!!!!!!!
