BANSHEE(CAN) 7" Lyrics Help

Post by daniel »

So I've tried my best with this one and this is what I have so far:

'Breakdown'

They gather in the field raise their heads up to the sky,
They don’t think it’s real, they can’t believe their eyes,
Masters of the order, disciples by their right,
Flames rising higher tribute offered to the night

Breakdown, bringing sinners to their knees
Breakdown, they will never be deceived
Breakdown, unholy masters of the game
Let it rain rain rain

Secrets beyond secrets .?.
Shouting ever laughter, circled through the halls
Dressed in rosy satin, black against the night
Flames rising higher, reflecting in their sight,

Breakdown, bringing sinners to their knees
Breakdown, they will never be deceived
Breakdown, unholy masters of the game
Let it rain rain rain

Gather on the mountain raise their heads up to the sky
They never want to leave, they never want to die
They dance around a circle which lies upon the ground
With masters of the order before the final sound

'I Am The Light'

Jackals and the demons they will call for me in darkness
I will wander through the fields never to find my way
As I walk along the road, I have feelings of frustrations
Suddenly a man appears to light my way:

I am light and the master of the people, and I’ll show you the trail, if you give to me your soul
And I stood at the altar, and the fire burned below it, and I said to the old man; could you take away the coal(???)

And then came young men from hell, and they gathered all around me
And they chanted strange strange words and I touched them on their hair
Then I walked with them below with the old man at my side
No words were spoken no words were said and no one seemed to care

He said, I am the light and the master of the people and I’ll show you the trail if you give to me your soul
And I stood at the altar, and the fire burned below it, and I said to the old man; could you take away the coal

And he said fire and rain, will fall before the night is over
You will never die, you will never grow old

Thanks! Great work for this AMAZING 7".

I suggest "Jackals and the demons..."

and

"Secrets beyond secrets, ... golden wall
Shouting … ….laughter, second through the hall
........................, blackened is the night
Flames rising higher, reflecting in their sight"

I don't think I have much to add to I am the light, I'll listen more closely to Breakdown later in the evening.

EDIT: "tribute offered to the night"

Are you sure it's "masters of/at the gate" and not "masters of the game"?

Thanks! :) John, I knew you'd be the first to reply, my brother in unearthing obscure lyrics haha :)

Great Kyr, that makes sense :) Also thanks to Zuul for helping out with some hard lines on 'Breakdown', great work!

Can't hear that 'golden halls' yet myself so haven't added it...

Here, I slowed down both songs, and cut out the non-vocal parts if it helps anyone figure out the rest:

No problem daniel, I like this kind of topics and I'm glad that some people still find something important in the lyrics of their favorite songs.

I downloaded your slowed versions and I suggest, without being 100% sure, this

"Secrets beyond secrets formed upon the wall"

I'm not so sure about 'formed', but I hear quite clearly the 'upon the wall' part, so let me know what you think and we're almost done with this 7" :)

No, I don't think so. Simply well-written fantasy lyrics, doesn't give me the impression they refer to either christianity or satanism.
