Why do people dig Rrrroooaaaarrr so much? It's not that the songs are bad, but the production is what kills it for me. When it comes to Voivod I usually go for War and Pain or Killing Technology. Oh and Dark Angel definitely suceeded at out Slayering Slayer with Darkness Descends. A land mark album for sure.

Me too. That one and SATAN'S HOST's "Metal From Hell" are the only 2 albums of which I'd welcome a re-recording..mustardgasattack wrote:Why do people dig Rrrroooaaaarrr so much? It's not that the songs are bad, but the production is what kills it for me.
OnT: Looking through the titles mentioned I think I still have to go with Reign In Blood for 1986. Sure, it has a few fillers but as a whole it's one amazing album, overhyped or not. Close follow-ups would be NUCLEAR ASSAULT - Game Over, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM - Doomsday For The Deciever and KREATOR - Pleasure To Kill.
Rrröööaarrr is not the best of '86 or best of Voivod but still it's very good album. Production kills it butbutbut me likes it. Build Your Weapons!
Can't really say personal best of '86, too many good albums but ones with most spins I suppose are Reign In Blood, Game Over, Darkness Descends and Pleasure To Kill. Ok, it must be RIB as I bought tape of it before I got my first turntable in 91-92. Now that tape is somewhere in time.

Can't really add much to this thread other than my faves being the usual: Slayer, Destruction, Kreator, Dark Angel, Razor... I'll pick Pleasure to Kill for the intensity, mayhem, youthful enthusiasm and the wonderful nostalgia it comes with. Forget parents, even older brothers regarded this record as worse than the plague.

Although not PURE Thrash, I'd say Angel Dust - "Into The Dark Past" hands fucking down.
I suppose it's probably "Reign In Blood" for me when it comes to strictly Thrash even as over rated as it is.

This is bloody fucking great album sure but I always concidered it more as Savage Speed Metal than Thrash. Anyway, great choice®O©O wrote:i would add this ones and skip classics as mine favourites:
