Best thrash / death hybrid bands from the old days

Post by Heathen »

What do you think were the best bands that had a perfect blend of:
- thrash metal speed and dynamic, technical, blistering precision riffing
- death metal elements like heaviness, intensity and growls?

Something along the lines of the two Messiah (Switzerland) albums - Choir Of Horrors and Rotten Perish, No Return - Contamination Rises, Pestilence - Testimony Of The Ancients and similar.

What were the best albums in this vein out there?

Devastation from Chicago are pretty good. Also Toxic Shock and The Unsane are not quite Death but pretty extreme Thrash, I reccomend both EP's.

Dutch THANATOS is worth mentioning, pretty extreme sounding death/thrash. The guys have pulled it off yet again with their latest album Justified Genocide. They haven't really changed since Emerging From The Netherworlds.

Infected - Dark Century

The bass lines are a little too exposed, but the speed and riffs are overwhelming.
