God fathers of what?

Anvil is more of a Traditional/Heavy Metal band then they are Speed Metal.

Only a few select songs that the band ever released were pure Speed Metal.

There aren’t many pure Speed Metal Bands, if you think about it.

I would say Exciter, Anvil and Riot were the pioneers of that genre.

Then came bands like Agent Steel, Defender, Abattoir, Savage Grace, Rex Inferi, Angus, ADX, Mania (Ger) and put it all on a higher level.

From the newer bands I would say that Cranium from Sweden are a perfect example of pure Speed (no Thrash).
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

You can't base a sub-genre off of lyrics...

Yeah but when it comes to TAKE THIS TORCH the definition of speed metal comes marchin' in from the very depths of hades in burning flesh and grindin' bone makin' ALL THE REST of the bands mentioned here(with the exception of Exciter off course)sound like mere insects waiting to be squashed by apocalypse's fiery, brimstone hand....................
