All thrash or heavy metal bands who re-record an old classic with modern sound and triggered drums
Van Halen after the 3 first albums.
Again, does anyone?
I figure most people here aren't exactly fans of those. And it's about tastes that differ from other forum people rather than everyone outside 'cause it's bound to be different from them.
ok, skeleton out of the closet: I really like ABBA and Beatles... no kidding. So I have a weakness for ultra melodic music and deathnoise (aka extreme metal) at the same time.

Do you have a more relevant example of what you define as "epic"? Black Metal is quite off-topic in this forum... The reason I am asking is because you claim to like Metal more on the "epic" side of things and then go on to say that you don't like Omen but do like Abattoir. Again, the "epic" quality is largely based on opinion but from what I've often seen described in many reviews and by many different people is that Omen is quite epic and Abattoir really isn't. This leads me to see contradictions in what you claim are your tastes. I understand tastes are tastes and an argument based on this is pointless but your description of what you like doesn't make sense.
I thought about this, and you're right, Abattoir isn't particularly epic. I think it would be more accurate to say that I basically like 80s style power metal with Iron Maiden style vocals. The epic metal and epic doom metal bands that I like the most are those that share many common elements with early power metal. Also, the thrash bands I like tend to be "power/thrash" instead of straight thrash. I like Slauter Xstroyes better than Cirith Ungol, Solitude Aeturnus better than Pagan Altar, and Flotsam and Jetsam better than Dark Angel. Hope that makes sense.
although i doubt theres people around here that "love" such (municipal)wastes of time
Municipal Waste is a great band on stage. I like the first 2 records, but they became too one-dimensional for me afterwards. Also way too clean sound on their albums. Many people call them posers, but they're not. Especially Ryan Waste knows his classics.
Artillery -When Death Comes. I realy like ALL of their output (even B.A.C.K.) but the change of singer just don't do for me. But i might give a chance to their next one out soon...
And The Beatles are GREAT!!! I'm even heavily into Paul McCartney's solo work! Every phases of it...
