Favourite current Metal scene with younger bands?
I'm going to have to go with Sweden; Enforcer, Helvetets Port, Tribulation, Portrait etc all great.

I must admit that I don't follow any of today's metal scene, but things in Slovenia aren't that bad at all. Some bands you might check:
CROSSBREED - The best Slovenian band, I think that they finally got a singer and 2nd guitarist! www.myspace.com/crossbreedslo
NEGLIGENCE - www.myspace.com/negligence
ERUPTION - www.myspace.com/eruptionband
RAGER - www.myspace.com/ragerspeedmetal
DAWN PATROL - www.myspace.com/dawnpatrolmetal
And of course there's Dyz's (Negligence mastermind) Bay area tribute: www.myspace.com/bayareatributeprojectvoli

Agree! Helvetets Port is my favourite band these days. No other band sounds so old and forgotten today. Don't know of any other group sounding like them now?Nightlock wrote:I'm going to have to go with Sweden; Enforcer, Helvetets Port, Tribulation, Portrait etc all great.
Enforcer and Portrait are very good too.
Enforcer, Helvetets Port and Portrait really kicks ass..
Enforcer played at KIT didn't they?
A friend recommended this other swedish young band called In Solitude:

Really heavy shit! The intro riff on the live video is some ballcrushing stuff...

Without evil there could be no good so it must be good to be evil sometimes.

Actually In Solitude don't quite do it for me. They're okay good at best but no Helvetets Port or Enforcer. Their music just doesn't sound all that original trapped somewhere in between power and traditional metal with no major pros from either genre.

Actually I think Russia is doing pretty fucking well these days. Plenty of new, young bands carry the torch of Olde Gods like MAGNIT, ARIA, AUGUST etc, rather than copying the western bands by numbers.
So far I've only scratched the surface of this scene so I'll have to backtrack if I'm going to do any namedropping. "BLACK BLACKSMITH" were pretty amazing but I've forgotten their russian name. Let's bug Destrozer for a scene-report!

all good choices!Nightlock wrote:I'm going to have to go with Sweden; Enforcer, Helvetets Port, Tribulation, Portrait etc all great.
Not kids by any means, but I'd recommend VILLAINS [all veterans of other bands] and the unsigned Staten Island death metal teens ENTHRALLED.
