Yep, used have that old split LP, just picked up Ohhh Crikey, still puts a huge smile on my face. They were the band I went to see for my first ever gig around 1990, I was smacked in the face with a dead trout, had a box of cereal pored on my head and ended up at the bottom of a 50 man pile on the stage. Great gig and nothing has come close since.Korgüll wrote:Have to mention 'Metal Duck' then, great stuff!Satan Is Our Pal wrote:Oh crikey, I would have to say Lawnmower Deth.

I generally gravitate towards bands with an occult/hammer horror feel to their names like, Pagan Altar, Cloven Hoof. Witchfynde, Witchfinder General, Angel Witch, Pentagram, Bathory, Hellhammer, Lamp of Thoth and Hour of 13.
I think by far the coolest names are the short straight to the point ones like Venom, Hell, Sodom and Midnight, however Death Breath is a damn fine name!

Just put on this record and remembered there was an ancient thread on the subject: ULYSSES SIREN!
An effin' perfect band name if you ask me. Sorta' strange & far-fetched but it only makes it so much more enticing and adds 300% more edge to their Agent Steel-like, raw Speed Metal. Pretty please with sugar on top: reunite if only for a gig or 5, including a cûlt Euro-fest coming next year

The misspelling of MF makes it seem even cooler, or at least I always thought so when they emerged. DQ is a name that sounds cool too, and looks good on paper actually.FuneralCircle wrote:I always liked "DARK QUARTERER", even though I have no idea what a "Quarterer" is! Trouble, Witchfinder General, Black Death, Brocas Helm, and Mercyful Fate (despite the misspelling... heh) are all great.
Found this:
but I somehow doubt that's what they had in mind when they came up with the name.
I know I ain't doing much,
doing nothing means a lot to me.
