A bit OT since it's a rather good name. Still I believe Sabbat is a pretty odd choice. Especially since that probably is the nick-name of Black Sabbath in most native tongues of the world (where the th-sound is lacking). Are there any known bands called Priest, Maiden, Purple, Zeppelin?

Well, "sabbat" is an old French word with occult/pagan connotations, and Black Sabbath's star had faded pretty hard in the mid- to late-1980s, so it din't seem that odd at the time. Fit the band, at least.
