Great to see you back in action!
I placed an order through the store system, hoping it went through.

Re: Story behind the band CROM(esp)?
I don't know precisely how credible the info is, but the great metal blog Ride Into Glory recently made a guide to Spanish 80's heavy metal, which contained some interesting bits about Crom and their place in the Spanish scene as one of few English speaking bands. https://rideintoglory.com/el-volume...

Re: Keep It True 2019 roll call
I’m not a great fan, so I might be missing something, but why would it be such a dilemma to find a singer for a Legend show? Last time I heard the album, the vocal wasn’t anything terribly unique.
In other news, Elixir is reforming to play, which excites me so much more!

Re: Arc - Raiders of the Lost Arc
I’m quite sick of rehearsal recordings being released and sold like they were real records. Arc also has yet to convince me they wrote more than one song worth hearing.

Re: Keep It True 2019 roll call
Just logging in to announce my appearance. Like my companion Dan, in many ways I feel KIT has become even more important as I’ve got older. It’s the ultimate dad’s trip, where I can pretend like my steel is actually true and I can obtain heaps of records with money my family doesn’t need. I’ve learn...

Re: RUNNING WILD: Not-So Rapid Forays Into Their Catalog
I for one wouldn’t count the first two albums as part of such a streak. They’re good enough in their own right, but don’t stand out enough compared to all the other German metal bands of the era. There is not one song on Branded and Exiled that’s good enough to be on Black Hand Inn or Pile of Skull...

Re: Thoughts on HOLOCAUST "Covenant"
You should definitely check out The Courage To Be, if you haven't already. Both albums have a pronounced post-rock kinda U2-feel. I hear lots of similarities to The Unforgettable Fire, especially in the guitar tone. Listen to We Shall See Him As He Is for example. I asked John Mortimer about it a w...

I broke my keyboard trying furiously to type you know what and I'm way too slow on the phone, so I'll just leave it at:

Re: Genres You Got Tired Of
Dark Angel was a band that slipped through the cracks for me. I got into thrash (circa year 2000) with the big four, the German elite and the most obvious classic bands half a step behind (Overkill, Exodus etc) and then I moved to gradually more obscure thrash releases. Logically, I should have foun...

Re: Genres You Got Tired Of
It's also pity that majority of thrash fans in the 80's chose to listen to boring Reign in Blood or South of Heaven instead of killer Violent Restitution. On Reign in blood only two songs I find interesting. Everything else is unfinished to me. I'm not a fan of 1.33 minutes songs. It's understandab...

Re: Early SODOM
If you have it on CD you already have the same version as the Metal Blade/Banzai LP editions. They’re the same, while the Steamhammer LP is a different recording w/ an extra song. Yeah..I wish i could think like this... it's that collectors bug that I just can't kill for the moment. I need this one...

Re: Early SODOM
Don't worry Zanker, some people are doomed never to own the American version. I have three copies of the Steamhammer edition but never found a Metal blade one. And I missed out on the reissue double LP and now everyone's charging >50 euro for it, which I refuse to pay. I'll find it someday but it's...

Re: VIRGIN STEELE 'Invictus' (And Other Albums)
1. Marriage of Heaven and Hell part 1 (9,5/10) 2. Marriage of Heaven and Hell part 2 (9/10) 3. Invictus (9/10) These are a triumvirate of nearly perfect epic metal milestones in my book. I'm surprised to see Marriage 2 get so little love as I thought it was the most popular of the pair, though I've ...
