I see the point of using the term "power" to denote music which sounds powerful, but it's not really how musical genres are used, or else all fast metal would be "speed metal". Black metal is even weirder because it doesn't sound black, and metal itself can be questioned because ...

Strangely enough, the Prog Archives don't acknowledge the existence of this band and insist the UK band was the first: ASIA were formed in 1981 by: Steve HOWE (YES) John WETTON (KING CRIMSON, URIAH HEEP, UK ETC.) Geoff DOWNES (YES, BUGGLES, and Carl PALMER (ELP). They were of course immediately dubb...

Dark Angel?

The albums from Darkness Descends up seem to be not too hard to find, with the Century Media reissues and all and even the vinyls are not too rare or hard to find. But what about "We Have Arrived"? The only version to be found at a decent price is the 2007 Axe reissue. Is the sound good? A...

I can't remember the name of this band

It was some 1980s female-fronted band, from Denmark I think, and I think the singer died.

They had a cheesy video in some big boiler room, and the singer had this small funny looking ax.

i"ve heard one song, I think it was on youtube but I can't find it anymore. It was more mellow, more like prog but not metal, not as good as the first demo.

But I would still like to hear the whole thing...

I hear some NWOBHM and speed metal elements in there. Sounds a little like Metaliica too, maybe with some Iron Maiden thrown in, if it's from 1980 it's really interesting.

I waited so long for those songs to load it wasn't even funny anymore so I turned the stupid myspace off. Anyways, a lot of real grindcore is very sloppy as well. But I wanted to post something I found recently, Steel Mill, Bruce Springsteen's old band (not to be confused with Steel Mill (UK), who c...

The "Best of" is not too hard to find online, it is about half harder tracks. The ballads are not half bad for what they are either, not metal though.

hmm, I was going to start a new thread but I found this one. Anyways, were there any other bands from Mongolia besides Hurd which played heavy/speed metal? On the Metal Archives all the other bands are black or death metal. I remember seeing this TV news report in the early '90s on Mongolia, and the...

Because it's not a crappy cassette recording that no one has even bothered to put on a blog?

I really fail to understand the funny bit, there are lots of more well-known bands mentioned in this thread.

I don't see Medieval Steel get mentioned on forums often.

And why not the Dungeon Tapes? It's got the whole EP plus extra tracks. So what if it's a CD.

About the Voltaj song, "cenusa" means ash, I thought the song was loosely based on the Andrzejewski (Polish author) novel of the same name. From what I've heard so far, they seemed more glam with a couple of speed metal songs in the 1980s, their first album (1996) is their only metal album...

She was the first singer, he is on the (supposedly) 1985 demo, assuming the dates on the Metal Archives are not 1 year off.

However, according to the history on Elixir's page, the dates from the Archives seem indeed to be off, the first demo is from 1983 and the second from 1984.

I haven't heard the Elixir (UK) demo, but I would like to, the first one with Sally Pike on vocals.
