METAL CHURCH - Metal Church

Too bad the general sound is a bit weak nowadays (compared to their fellows Metallica for example). Maybe they'd should put more guitar layers. Anyway, what a perfect compilation of awesome riffs. + drums and vocals are brilliant.

Just because ONE riff in Symptom this is proto thrash... argh. So the eponym song by Black Sab must be proto-black metal, proto-doom metal, proto-death metal, proto-sludge metal... this means nothing in the end, imo. Lethyl: Didn't know about this compilation, very interesting indeed. And yep, Thras...

This album has always been a perfect balanced mix between Black Metal, Death Metal and Thrash Metal. Impressive.

I'm agree with the statement of LehtylSteel.

Thrash mean a Punk side... anyway I don't even want to start thinking of what proto-thrash could be, but instinctively I would skip Sabbath, BOC or Accept, or proto-speed/speed stuffs.

You must include several VENOM tracks.

As for BÖC or Black Sabbath, I doubt any 70's band could be considered as proto-thrash.

The entire Toxic Holocaust & Municipal Waste discography.

And I just had the same story as you with Testament's The Ritual hahaha. Shitty to the max. I remember I thought "did they try to follow Metallica and their Black Album??"

I will think of a list but right now I got no time.
