Re: Proto-metal song thread
Well, it'd be hard to say but music plays a pretty important part in Uruguay's cultural background, probably only second to football. They also benefitted from a somewhat "milder" dictatorship compared to other countries (not by much though, but more stuff seemed to get through the cracks...

Re: Proto-metal song thread
I'm not sure if you're referring to Argentina specificallly or South America in general, (and it also depends on your definition of 'heavy' of course), but i think you're being just a wee bit harsh. compared to the rest of the so called "western" world, we were quite behind as a continent...

Re: Proto-metal song thread
we were quite late bloomers when it came to heavy stuff down here. In some places you pretty much had to wait until the mid 80s for real Heavy Metal to show up. I'm not sure if you're referring to Argentina specificallly or South America in general, (and it also depends on your definition of 'heavy...

Re: Proto-metal song thread
Not as old as most of the (great) stuff that already has been posted, but still counting as Proto Metal, I think. El Reloj from Argentina sounded in 1976 like The Weird Lord Slough Feg would sound 25 years later. Great stuff, if you ask me.... Also not as old or proba...

Well, there's Napalm Death. I think by the time their debut LP came out there were no original members leftwicked keeper wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 1:45 am What about bands with no original members? There must be a few...

Re: Atom God - History Re-Written (1991)
Cheers for another meaty factsheet, Kit! Some artist connections were familiar to me, some not. The NECROPOLIS-connection completely slipped me by. This Death Metal version of the old AG tune "Cesspit" isn't completely awful, though I still prefer the Voivod'y one on "History.."...

Re: "Run of the mill" albums
Well, I just remembered another album that would fit what I meant with this thread and it's Attila's Rolling Thunder. There's no real reason for me to listen to this so much more than many classics, yet I keep coming back to it over and over again. It might be more remarkable than some of the other ...

Well, there's Macabre, which I didn't see mentioned. 34 years around with the same three members.

In talking with the guys that run the store, someone had died and their family brought in his entire collection to sell. This is how I got plenty of great comic book and literature scores. We don't have any record stores, unfortunately so any records or even CDs probably go to the bin or people tha...

The French scene is probably the only "big" scene I could never get into. Right now I can't even think of a single French band that I'm really into.

The Christin D. track is listed as "Let's Make Love" even though you can see on the scan of the back cover that it's actually called "Risiko".

Well, that makes more sense though I wouldn't be surprised if some people really did it to show off.
