Re: Metal Collecting ..only for the rich & elderly?

Interesting... Are all good 80's HM vinyl getting more expensive though? Originals of all the classic bands - Yes Kült-rarities (Militia, Wyzard, various nwobhm 7" etc) - Yes ...but inbetween is where we find the majority of vinyl Steel and not all of it is mediocre. If you don't have a proble...

Re: Insane Ebay Auctions - Vinyl, Tapes & Merch

Wow, you must have browsed through a lot of threads on this forum just to find that message. ;-) Yeah, buying a record for 30 SEK (about €3) and selling it for 200 (about €20) is surely killing the collecting scene. Especially since the average Discogs price for this item was 220 SEK (€22) to begin...

Re: Insane Ebay Auctions - Vinyl, Tapes & Merch

Do you see any relation between these two? Why are there no cheap records? There are, but all are sucked up by dealers and collectors who intend to make money on them. Only way to lower prices and more reasonably priced records to more people is if less people seek to benefit. I’m probably fighting ...

You called me?
I’m not sure wether that phrase is something one really wants to hear or something one really doesn’t want to hear after calling out for Bigfoot.

Re: Who's Cranking the New CIRITH UNGOL Today?

I forgot to mention that there's an obvious difference to the vinyl reissue of "Paradise Lost" from a few years back, which was obviously mastered specifically for vinyl to sound as good as possible. It's a little surprising they (or Metal Blade) would invest the effort in a reissue but no...

Re: Who's Cranking the New CIRITH UNGOL Today?

Is it just me, or does the album sound quite bad on vinyl? It’s very muddy and lacks clarity and punch. I suspect Metal Blade just put the CD master on vinyl. Certainly no “mastered FOR VINYL by Patrick Engel at Temple of Disharmony” declaration on this release. I redeemed my download code and indee...

Re: ATLANTEAN KODEX Course of Empires

I don't recall there were many fans here even in the forum's heyday. Atlantean Kodex is a "new" band and people just don't care. But aye, awe inspiring album. Release of the year for sure and, for me, the best metal album since Procession's "To Reap Heavens Apart" in 2013. Stran...

There are, like the Katedra debut (Lithuania) and the Asparez LP (Armenia).

I'm sure this will be a great show and very fulfilling to many, but I feel I just can't buy into this if it's without Michael Denner. :(

Re: The Track 5 Theory

I resent the notion that this template is ideal for all sub genres! Pacing, headbanging value, catchiness etc is important in power metal. You need some variation in tempo to get the most out of the speediest number, but you never want an album to drag so the sequencing is important and this is as c...

Re: The Track 5 Theory

This is truth. All the Rhapsody albums from the classic 1997-2002 period follow this pattern. Instrumental intro, then fast and/or very anthemic opener, another track that sticks like glue to the opener but is slightly slower, a token folkish song, and then unleash a million toy swords for serious d...
