I read somewhere that NWOBHM was a pun based on the New Wave, you know, Adam Ant, Bow Wow Wow and all those groups.

Skull Branded Pirates

I got their CD not too long ago, took about 3 weeks, although that may be the fault of the postal service from my country. I am really glad I bought it, great nwobhm-influenced pirate metal, I recommend this CD. Cheap too. And the only time I've ever order a CD by mail without the jewel case breakin...

It does seem kind if pricey, and it even says the DVD is not the greatest quality. It seems to be several CDs though. Only one song online? That's pretty poor if they expect people to buy that stuff. Anyways, I do like the crappy 1990s style website. There's also apparently several bands with that n...

They were pretty big, they played the cheesy San Remo pop festival.

Albanian Heavy Metal from the 90's. A Real hymn! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbIWL-W-jDk&feature=channel_video_title Very good song. Did this band release any albums??? They released one in 1997 and one in 2009 (haven't heard either in their entirety, but not all metal) This thread talks about t...

There's also 3 songs on the Tredegar Remix+Rebirth CD, but I didn't know it was a female until I read the liner notes.

Fuck it, I'm posting it: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/3572/coverzz6.jpg Rainbow color scheme?... My eyes are burning... Day-glo. Maybe it's meant for blacklights. This may be from the same artist: http://shop.relapse.com/dbimages/sleeves/97068_362.jpg it's not metal though, it's hardcore punk...

Although I was kind of hoping for more examples. I don't think it's true that it was all to avoid similar band names, as people in the 1980s who liked Def Leppard usually also liked Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix (even if those who liked the latter two may not like the first), you get the point I hope.

I'll add Reincarnate to the list of bands Metallica sounded like, especially since the Reincarnate demo and 7" were released in 1981 and 1982. They did sound like this band at 45 rpm (or maybe 78 since the single was already 45) two or three years later.

There's Morphos from French Guyana, I ran across posts by a member on a gear forum, haven't heard them though. Not on the Archives, but bands from the other Guyanas (Guyana and Surinam) are listed. Also, although on the Metal Archives (I don't know if all the bands are on there but there are bands l...

Funny Spellings

Where did it all come from? I'm not talking about umlauts, just band names spelled in a way that is not the normal way to spell those words. For the 1960s I can think of Jimi Hendrix, the Byrds and the Monkees, there were quite a few bands in the 1970s, and in the 1980s it became common. So the ques...
