Re: Bands to collect next to Manilla Road, Cirith Ungol, Brocas Helm
I recently had a look through forum member Mechabarbarian's RYM list called '100 Obscure And Heavy Singles That Make My Soul Sing' and it ocurred to me that a lot of what he's listed would dovetail quite nicely with the theme of this thread: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/mechabarbarian/100-obscure-...

Re: CULT OF THE UNDERDOG Podcast : Episode 27 Now Available!
Interesting! The only reason I haven't reviewed THRILL yet is because the intro riff sounds exactly like another song I know about. But I can't for the life of me figure out which one. Could that soundalike intro riff perhaps belong to the Dead Boys 'Not Anymore'? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE...

Re: CULT OF THE UNDERDOG Podcast : Episode 27 Now Available!
Impressed that you spotted Thrill in there Khnud, i didn't think anyone would get that one. I really like the Detroit-influenced sound of that one. This one wasn't that hard for me actually. I've owned a copy for years, and I like it a lot. Their sound reminds me of Ron Asheton's post-Stooges band ...

Sterling detective work gentlemen. Impressed that you spotted Thrill in there Khnud, i didn't think anyone would get that one. I really like the Detroit-influenced sound of that one. The "Hungarian"-sounding band you referenced were actually from closer to your general part of the world. I...

Re: CULT OF THE UNDERDOG Podcast : Episode 27 Now Available!
The first song is from Rose Tattoo of course. Somewhere in the middle i heard Alice in Chains. For both i do not know the name of the song, sorry. Nicely done tbieri, the songs were 'Dead Set' & 'Dam That River'. 01. CARAVELLI/THE PARIS STUDIO GROUP - Accroche-Toi, Caroline (from the 'Voices In...

Well the last stream I never had the chance to comment. this time around: Well the second song I definitely know, but it has been long enough since last hearing it I cannot ID. French band, or possibly Belgian. Oui. Your 1st instinct was correct. My command of French isn't good enough to offer you ...

Tasty mix of comp cuts! Finally heard this a couple of times, a couple of these comps have made it onto my hit list. Of course unable to find reasonably priced copies, maybe someday. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it Rob, and apologies if it added anything to your wants lists. Re finding reasonably ...

Damn you, damn you, damn you. 'I'll watch the first ten minutes' i thought to myself, but was still sat there three & a half hours later when it ended. Yet again. Another highly entertaining episode fellas, lots of old favourites featured, but probably just as many records that i'm unfamiliar wi...

I do too, they captured a certain atmosphere 1st time 'round that the newer version lacks, but it was interesting to hear them adding a little more heft to the song decades later.

Re: 'Unintentional Metal' / 'Metal-by-mistake'
Well, I have two songs here from Portugal that may perhaps be suitable for this thread... Let me know what you think... I enjoyed them both, the CTT track as you said was the more immediate & heavier of the pair, but i actually preferred the Salada De Frutas track. A nice blend of Prog & Ha...

Re: 'Unintentional Metal' / 'Metal-by-mistake'
The Algorithim must be working overtimes as my pal e-mailed me a link to that selfsame record just the other day after it had recommended it to him. I rather liked it, though the harder material was rather front-loaded, but as a Zappa devotee & occasional enjoyer of (whisper it) jazz fusion 'sid...
