Wait a minute, so Helm is "ridiculous" for saying he lives and breathes Heavy Metal and tries to understand it and express himself through it? Isn't that what half of the "godly" metal albums a lot of you spend a shitload of money preach lyrically and in their linear notes? Would...

Well Amorphis, Samael and Moonspell were waaaaay more hard rock than metal last time I checked, so I wasn't going to mention any of them. I'm honestly not aware of Opeth's sound nowadays, I've only heard three albums. Just felt they were a good example, along with Virgin Steele, of a metal band that...

But I love Emperor and Omen and they are both part of my concept of heavy metal. Certainly the way I look at. They are both coming from the same place but have different approaches. It's a kind of gut feeling for me, "Does this music connect me to that heavy metal source?" Even when I don...

Hmm I don't find Realmbuilder weird at all..it's pretty much 100% generic save for the "bored guy" vocals(a bit quirky). Kind of reminds me of the major SUCK that is "Meadows of Maseilya" from Longings Past. No offense to anyone who thinks that album is a "godly masterpiece!...

Ok, so the word "spiritual" is kind of a dirty word it seems. If you are equating the word "spiritual" with "organized religion" then you are sort of off course. I use the word often when talking about music because to me, it implies a connection to something greater(th...

Woah..I didn't know anything about this. Neat idea. Too bad all of that CGI shit is in there though, I really like all of his early stuff and the concept of the Voivod.

Well I must be incredibly picky because I can't think of any bands with five flawless/nearly flawless albums(not according to the way in which I think of those terms). Manilla Road has 4, Sabbath has 4, Priest has 4 and that's about it. Darkthrone and Maiden aaaaalmost have 4 but not quite. I think ...

I definitely don't find this song as appealing as the songs on the 7". I think it goes on far too long for it's own good. Still, there is something off kilter about it..it might be the vocal lines. I wouldn't call it totally run-of-the-mill Heavy Load worship or anything but it's pretty close.

An interesting thread here. I had already heard Pedo and Dawnbringer. Pedo is decent-great but not my kind of death metal. I'm more of an Immolation, Gorguts guy but once in awhile I want to listen to this kind of dirty Autopsy/Impetigo death metal. Dawnbringer is really good and while being very si...

I've listened to this about 4 or 5 times now. It's pretty good but I don't think I like it as much as the debut. It is a lot more 'dreamy' indeed but there is a kind of medieval fairytale atmosphere on "Beyond My Imagination" that might have struck me as a bit too odd on the first listen b...

I can't think of much to comment as usual because so many great points have already been made. I'm not too big on reading through pages of threads unless they are as exciting and as mentally stimulating as this one. Helm's essay was top notch and it seems to have struck a (power)chord with most of u...

Ahaha I've experienced this curse quite a lot of times. When I was learning to play "Black Funeral" on the guitar I often felt really compelled to do a kind of hum/half singing along at the same time. I know most of the words but get the verses kind of mixed up. Of course the guitar is plu...

Save for the two football numbers, I really enjoyed this offering. Thanks a lot for the upload and a belated thanks for re-upping "Norway Rocks." I managed to find "Let Draka" on Soulseek(much to my amazement). It's going to take a bit more listening to digest but there are certa...

Catchy album huh? There are quite a lot. I'd have to second Danger Zone-Victim of Time even though it's not a proper album. Gotham City's "Black Writs" is full of riffs and choruses that get stuck in your head easily. Also of note for me are.. Mercyful Fate-Melissa Warlord-...And the Canno...

Does anyone have the ability to easily re-upload the Norway Rocks compilation? It looks like it was re-upped a few times in the past. I've read the review for it a couple of times and been very interested..especially in Manitou and Anesthesia! thanks
