Re: GOOD YouTube channels?

Long time no C! Liking the episode (about halfway thru)—I’d gladly listen to Edman talk metal till the EURO METAL COWS come home, any day. But I’m still confused about the relevance of EURO METAL as an umbrella term. Doesn’t it somehow imply that REAL METAL is made somewhere else, probably in the St...

Re: ISTEN FANZINE: Don’t Break the Ghost book

Book Depository, apparently not. Amazon.com says currently unavailable, but it’s also currently unavailable at The End/Omega Order, Svart’s official distro in the States.

ISTEN FANZINE: Don’t Break the Ghost book

Good to see The Corroseum going once more! (btw, congrats, DaN!) In case you don’t mind, allow me to plug my life’s work here: ”Don’t Break the Ghost” is a 804 page A4 hardcover book, 3 kilograms of heavy metal alchemy, written by myself, Janne Sarna and Professor Black, and published in December 20...

Satrapold Bold

Typefaces do not equal layout/design, you know. Franta being the design wiz that he is, his standards are a bit higher than most people’s. Everybody should know about Master’s Hammer’s difficult relationship with Osmose, so if NWN only dealt with Osmose and not with Franta & Co. directly, it’s n...

Dream Death ‘Journey into Mystery’--because I’d love more heavy metal to stem from this gritty and imperfect masterpiece. Fuck mainstream appeal, to hell with six-million-dollar production values. Sabbat ‘Karisma’--because it is such a glorious, beautiful album; it makes me sing along altho’ Japanes...

"Cauterization" by Dark Angel gets my vote as well... Relentlessly heavy, totally addictive.

Nifelheim “Envoy of Lucifer”
Primordial “To the Nameless Dead”
Candlemass “King of the Grey Islands”
Superchrist “Headbanger”
Sarcofagus Inc ”Core Values”

Great stuff, although with the exception of Sarcofagus, no real surprises there. I also liked Portrait and Saturnalia Temple, for example.

Value is the lightness or darkness of a colour

Achtung! Acquired Taste Hazard! It’s decidedly Sarcofagus from the word ‘go’ till the end of the French version of “2nd Coming”, the last cut on offer. Then again, they were always experimental, weird, and OTT on the first two albums as well, and “Moottorilinnut” wasn’t all fun and hit singles eithe...

I wasn't that impressed by OUTBURST's vinyl offerings. Are the demos any better? No, I wouldn't say they are. But then, I *am* impressed by "Stranglers in the Night". Having eyeballed a very nice reunion gig a while back might be a contributing factor--I hadn't heard the MLP in years. Sur...

Outburst - demos '88 Solid hard/heavy rock from this local (Tampere/Nokia) band who only released a 5-track MLP 'Stranglers in the Night' and a 7" ("Lonely Nights" b/w "No More") - unfortunately not reissued on compact disc so far. Catchy, Purple/Rainbow influences, lots of ...
