But what do you know about me? Do you know how many records I have bought in my life? Do you know how often I go to shows? What do you know? You don't know anything about me, you're only assuming. I've paid a lot of money for HM but that doesn't make me live it at all, what makes me live it is that ...

Avenger, here's how it is: When someone tells you you're being insulting, and all you have to offer 'well that's your problem', it is a matter of perspective. I ask then for other regulars to arbitrate: Is being repeatedly called a joke because you said you live specifically Heavy Metal, specificall...

Don't worry, no cash will be spent unless I really like the records anyway. I'll give Blackout a listen too. I'm eager to spot the Mercyful Fate lineage. Thanks for the recommendations.

Jesus Christ. Listen, you have to take responsibility of what you say at some point. What you're effectively saying here in this thread over and over is "you're a joke, no offense." It isn't any less offensive because you postface it with "no offense" and it's even more insulting...

Enough with the easy insults and enough with the easy humour. I am not a kid, I am older than you in fact. I make Heavy Metal, I don't just collect it. I don't know about 'trying too hard' but perhaps you could start by trying a little to take other people's beliefs and positions as something else t...

so here's the thing. I have heard all the ballads and the odd non-ballad (like the godly 'In Trance' or 'Rock You Like a Hurricane') and I always appreciated the musicianship (besides the singer, whose pronunciation I always have had a bit of trouble with) and the very careful composition. Even when...

I cannot understand your obsession to constantly intellectualise musical experiences - why are you seemingly opposed to purely emotional responses? I am not. At all. I have them just as you, I'm no robot. The intellectual concerns that come after the emotions do not invalidate them, at least for me...

I agree and I don't think they should have modernized at all actually. I mean, them not becoming huge was probably something they came to terms and decided to stick to the stadium thing because they liked playing live the most, I'd guess. Personally if I felt I wasn't pushing the envelope and myself...

exactly, but this is why I don't just trust 'riffs'. As it is often said, *any* guitarist will have 4-10 great riffs in them just by playing and practising and channelling whatever discreete forces of inspiration there are in this cosmos. But it takes real effort to craft a fully-composed song, and ...

same here. I see a direct line from Black Sabbath to say, Burzum or Skepticism and it really surprises me when other people don't. As you say, hierarchical structure. It's really really interesting that (I posit) when the sub-scenes themselves started to 'stray from the mothership' of Heavy Metal an...

We are in agreement then, it is better than the first album and almost all other stuff in the genre. And we need to find it!

Ion Britton here's a theory I've been kicking around in my head: To some degree, we like Heavy Metal because it's difficult to do and do right. It takes effort, right? Sweat, determination. Isn't it the case that when you listen to a 'perfect riff' you might get images of someone sitting down with h...

I don't know man, I've met a lot of people that love both Hittman and Savage Grace. The range in US Power isn't that great.
