Re: Proto-metal song thread

compared to the rest of the so called "western" world, we were quite behind as a continent. kids who went from AC/DC to Slayer in just a matter of months. The same kinda thing happened later in the European Eastern Bloc. Is there some kind of historical or cultural reason why Uruguay seems to have ...

Re: Proto-metal song thread

This whole album is pretty doomy. uZFNhcOY0So By the way, there is no "Population I", it was the name of the band/project because there were only two people in it and the drummer played the bass lines on a keyboard at the same time. It's also an astronomical term for a star group, interview: http://...

This band opened for some of the biggest bands in the day, but for some reason are not that well known.

Stumbled across this song on YT earlier & thought it had a heaped spoonfull of 'Endless Skies' era Ashbury vibe:

I find it a lot more to be in a folksinger style than Ashbury style, but great song nonetheless.

Re: Proto-metal song thread

They're pretty well known, but for some reason I never listened to Vanilla Fudge. From 1968 and the whole album is kind of like this.

Proto-metal song thread

I thought it would be interesting to make a thread about songs which seem way ahead of their time. Not necessarily bands which played heavy all the time. I suppose there is no need to post "Rumble" again as on other forums, everyone has heard that one and knows about it, I hope. 1968 mg5t7T5_rR8 n9v...

Re: Unknown NWOBHM demos and "demo only" bands

I guess I'm posting this because of the thread being about blacks in NWOBHM in the last few pages, but if you click on the YouTube name and view it in another tab, that channel has mainly NWOBHM demo-only bands, I think he also put out some reissues.

Re: Same Riff??? (Riff-Off)

The vocal lines are very similar, not the guitar riffs although they share some similarities. The second is much faster.

Should there be another thread for vocal lines which are almost the same?

Re: The history of rock music in China - Part 1: the beginning

I quite like Cobra, a 90s all-girl band, formed in 1989.

They apparently also played some shows in the US. Broke up in the late 90s.

Re: Swords of Steel Omnibus - Metal/Fantasy Anthology

Interesting, I was reading about this on Legendry's Bandcamp page, and it says it's a follow-up to the events on their latest album. So then there are no other stories other than the lyrics for the earlier period?

Re: Interesting band from Africa

In case anyone is interested. https://forum.metal-archives.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=123943 They sound pretty modern, I don't see how they can be hard rock. They got classified as nu-metal because of the rap parts, which almost sound like something from an 80s Metallica song or something but a tiny b...
