Re: CULT OF THE UNDERDOG Podcast : Episode 14 Now Available!

I have a soft spot for that Short Cross LP. If i was being critical, they perhaps lacked a little in terms of originality & individuality, but the songs are really well crafted & played with such enthusiasm & energy that they won me over easily. If memory serves they were all still in t...

Looks like no one got "T.V.'s on the Blink" by The Action. That's a good obscure spot Keir! I doff my cap to you sir. Time to reveal all then? You have been listening to: 01. The Harry South Orchestra - The Sweeney (Closing Version) (from the 'The Sweeney' TV soundtrack 7" (19...

Getting that for sure. Have liked everything they have done so far (as does the rest of the household), so it's a no-brainer.

Nicely done sir!
Good thing someone else here is tolerant of a bad sense of humour ;)

Re: STORMSPELL new releases

I've been out of circulation here too long. Good to see you keep releasing stuff on Stormspell. I need Magnabolt and Target, so I'll see if they are still around in European webshops.

Just read your review, Dan. Totally agree with the comparisons. Listening to Kratos right now, hearing some Lester Maddox in there (which is surely a coincidence, probably in recording and production). Chainsaw is a great track - pure mayhem. Not Mayhem though, more Venom or Motorhead.

Re: Marc McMillan’s NWOBHM Encyclopaedia

I remember there was talk of a new edition almost as soon as I got my copy when it had first come out. I seem to remember that somebody corrected that and said it was just a reprint but I am very hazy on the details. Of course, there has been murmurs of a new edition for years now - wonder if that w...

Re: Who's Cranking the New CIRITH UNGOL Today?

Thanks for posting the Last Rites article - good read. Agreed on the sound of the LP - I am not happy with that. The guitars should be loud and clear, not muddled up, like they are there. I am very happy with everything else though. Good to great songs, arrangements are great, the artwork is to die ...

Re: Who's Cranking the New CIRITH UNGOL Today?

Not me, I'm expecting it here on Friday. Optimistic about the quality, though it will take months to decide whether or not it lives up to the old albums. Have to say I'm very happy with Tim Baker's vocals after the reunion. At times, his lower "near-growl" feels even better than the higher...

Re: Bulgarian Metal

Thanks for sharing both the Phonoexpress song and especially Slavjani. The latter was excellent. Found some other songs from Phonoexpress which were nowhere near as good, not unexpectedly. The song linked to here was very enjoyable. I'm sure everyone here is very familiar with albums with one or a c...

Re: What old cult metal bands have all original members?

I got recently into a debate about the current Judas Priest lineup. Should it be considered as Judas Priest? or Ian and friends band? Don't have strong opinions on that but is it not reasonable to accept greater changes of membership in bands which have been in existence continuously rather than in...

Re: "Run of the mill" albums

Sometimes this might be determined by when you listen to an album. I'm gonna lose everybody on this board with this example, but I was kinda surprised when I found out that Cannibal Corpse's "Gore Obssessed" album was actually considered a weaker one by many people. It was one of the firs...
