A bunch of new rips/Remasters & uploads

Post by malegys »

- Here we have the two rare demo tapes by Canadian band OUTBREAK. They released an LP in 1986 called "Masterstroke" after these demos. Although playing a Trad style of Heavy Metal (with the occasional Power/Speed metal bursts), the band actually started of as Hardcore Punk band in 1983 in their hometown of Quebec. I guess they became better musicians & started playing metal afterwards :-D. The ONE thing that always comes up on the rare occasion that OUTBREAK ever gets mentioned is their...ummm..Unhealthy interest of all things German from the Second World War. From certain song titles to their artwork on the demo sleeves(I haven't included them here in this video for obvious reasons) to their promotional band shots. But all in all, it's more a case of Castle Wolfenstein than Skrewdriver. Saying that, all of their material has been blocked for sale on Discogs, so go figure... There's NO bootleg comp cd, let alone an official release that compiles these demos & the versions i've heard that have been uploaded to Youtube, pale massively in comparsion to what you get here. So very decent Traditional Mid 80s metal, 19 tracks in total, 95 minutes, all lovingly restored & mastered from the OG tapes by Mahler Haze in May 2019. You can't get a better deal than that ;)

-Very rare "live" recording here by Chicago's TYRANTS REIGN from 1988. My natural metal cynicism tells me that this supposedly "live" recording is one of those "live-in-the-studio-with-dubbed-audience-sound-ontop" things, like so many other bands have done in the past. Nevertheless, The recording quality & performance is brilliant. I suspect that the band wanted to release a "live" album or "live" demo at some point (this was recorded after their seminal 1987 Year of the Tyrants record), but probably shelved the idea, due to it sounding too obvious (the dubbed-on audience sounds). It''s never got an official release & isn't mentioned in the band official discography either. Tyrants Reign played top-notch US Speed/Power metal that also ventured into Thrash metal territory. Superb musicianship, Great classic metal vocals & great songs. You get 15 tracks in in 73 minutes (including a Metal Church cover "Gods of Wrath"). Fully restored & mastered by Mahler Haze in May 2019

-Superb soundboard live recording of Venom when they destroyed the Civic Centre in Santa Monica in March 1986 on their US Possessed tour. The track "the chanting of the Priests" also gets played which was supposed to be on their next album "deadline", but Mantas left before then & two other guitarists were employed instead & the title got changed to "The Calm before the storm". This rare live version is heavier & slower than the studio recording the following year. 7 tracks in 44 minutes. Fully Restored & mastered by Mahler Haze, May 2019

-Killer demo here by VIOLENT COERCION, who a year later became NEUROSIS. This demo reminds me of "Animosity" era Corrosion of Conformity with Kurt Brecht from D.R.I. singing. Raging metallic HC (but not crossover) with tons of fury & anger. 8 tracks in 24 minutes. Fully Restored & mastered by Mahler Haze in May 2019

First of all - thanks for Tyrant's Reign (i will compare later)

And i also might download the Outbreak stuff - not too obvious what's inside the file - but if it's the 2 official demos i already have. I once ripped it for me from Cyrcka original demo (at least 1) - so i must download and compare.

About Tyrant's Reign :

Your live recording was captioned on Jabbawalkee,Milwaukee,WI,December-1987

It was sold by the band on CDr form in 1998 and it was limited to 50 copies only.
The name of the CDr was "No Your Not Dreaming...Tyrant's Reign Live"

Oh ok, i had no idea that the Tyrants reign material got released by the band themselves (didn't find any mention of it in their Discography search). Thanks for all the info.
