V/A - "Musical Box" + "R.I.N.G.E.R?" CDs (Italy 1990)

Post by DaN »

As reviewed here. Not an essential release in any way, but if you ignore the boring/mediocre 50%, the rest is either Great, Fun or Hilarious!

Also I wanna take this opportunity to make a request:
I need a good (320kbps) rip of the R.I.N.G.E.R? compilation CD, also from Italy, and from the same producer. It so happens my own copy has a rather bad case of bronzing/CD-rot, so the last couple of songs sound awful :(

Here is the Ringer compilation:

Klaus Byron was a metal dj in a local radio in his hometown Viareggio during the 80s, he also had a promotional agency (Musical Box) for italian metal bands and was the owner of a well known records shop (now closed) specialized in rock and metal for years

Thanx a lot! I was crossing my fingers you would be able to help (as many times before  )
Btw, can you confirm the years of release? No info on the actual CDs as far as I can see, I just used the years from discogs. Also curious which came first, and if there's any more comps made from Musical Box?

Year is 1990, it seems there should be three other cd compilations of the same series (but i never saw them til now) released by Musical Box/Klaus Byron around 1990/1991...actually these cd were made in few copies sent to labels and fanzines/magazines and radio stations, i found my copies around 2005/6 in a used records shop in Milano together with some other italian metal cd first press (Rising Power,Swords,Sure etc.) , they all came from a local radio station closed some years before.

P.S. if you need some other italian rips feel free to ask me, i'll try to do my best

3 more?? OK, guess the Hunt is on then...
It's not that these are any immortal classics or anything, but I think there's enough cool & very obscure content on them to justify some proper research.

Some bad news: It seems your copy of the RINGER cd has the same problem as mine - in the last 5-or-so songs the music starts to distort and gets worse and worse with every track. I'm pretty sure this is due to bronzing, a.k.a. 'CD-rot'. You can even see it in the picture of the disc that was in the .rar - the same kind of brownish tint as on my copy :(
