Thoughts on HOLOCAUST "Covenant"

Anyone else who enjoys this?

Discovered it by chance a couple of years after its initial release - I guess the cover worked as a major attraction. Of course there's a strong Voivod and progressive rock influence besides the metal, but still highly original material. Seems to grow better over the years as well.

Excellent indeed. Haven't made the effort to check out the rest of their later output though. Got the feeling that "Covenant" was something of a one-off thing, but wouldn't mind to be proven wrong!

You should definitely check out The Courage To Be, if you haven't already.

Both albums have a pronounced post-rock kinda U2-feel. I hear lots of similarities to The Unforgettable Fire, especially in the guitar tone. Listen to We Shall See Him As He Is for example. I asked John Mortimer about it a while ago and he admitted the Irishmen mentioned above were indeed an influence.

Well I must say that I've never felt the urge to stop the cd, vomit or travel to Ireland, track down Bono and kick the living shit out of him while listening to it so the U2 influence can't be that obvious...

I will remember this for the day when I grow out of metal.
