Sweden:
Mikkey Dee, ex-KING DIAMOND (Den/US), MOTÖRHEAD
+ various members/ex-members of KING DIAMOND
Yngve Malmsten, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN (US)
John Norum, DOKKEN
Per Yngve Ohlin (r.i.p.), MAYHEM (Nor)
"B War" and "Legion" (ex-MARDUK) has some new band abroad I guess
That's all I came up with for the moment, hehe.

Fun records
... of Slovenian provenance (though some would deny it):
Daniel Klasnick (DOOMWATCH)
Patrick Klopf of Disharmonic Orchestra
Harald Pezdek - Disastrous Murmur
I also suspect Martin Schirenc - Pungent Stench.
+ I suspect
some people from Cleveland's scene.
probably some more ...

I am ... the One you warned me of
Because once upon a time in Austro-Hungarian empire it was not considered positive to be of non-German speaking provenance. Those who wanted to climb higher in society had to make themselves as German as possible. Before, between and after the WW II. this became the question of survival. That I not continue this sad story, I must say that are all mentioned surnames decidedly Slovenian.Forte wrote:why would people deny it because they don't consider them part of your culture because they came to and/or were born elsewhere or because you aren't sure they are Slovenian?

Why not? Blood is thicker than water. At least so I understood Vaggelis' proposal. And yeah, I think one should ask Paul Speckman about that.Forte wrote:But can you really call someone your countryman if they are born abroad or have lived in another place for generations that is the real question.

I ask the question also. I can't understand the youths down here identifying themselves as being of the nationality of previous generations of their family, when they have lived here since birth! It pisses me off, fuck them and their mentality, amoung their fathers hotted up cars and doof doof music!Forte wrote:But can you really call someone your countryman if they are born abroad or have lived in another place for generations that is the real question.
Paul Baloff and Lee Altus (I'm 99% for Lee) are / were Russians.
Tom Araya is from Chile.
Of course Lars from Mars, err, Denmark
Dave Carlo, Mike Campagnolio and I think Mike Embrio too from Razor are Italians (and probably some more members)
A bunch of Indians in thrash bands
A bunch of Philippines in thrash bands
Derrick in Sepultura is from US
Joe Comeau, when he was in Annihilator
I think Vlad from Agathodaimon was a Romunian
