I think i have it on a Hot Metal 2 on 1 CD boot. I'll try to upload tomorrow. Don't remember it being anything really impressive though.

I believe that this is what you are looking for?

Although, like you said, it covers mostly the "extreme" scene.

Old Spanish Metal

Baron Rojo's "Volumen Brutal" is an all-time classic. This is a little dated (1982) but definitely metal and the songs are all solid.

Maybe some Spanish Steel-specialist can answer this..

I need to know if the compilations "Solo Rock" and "Metal Nacional Vol. 1" include any rare, exclusive recordings or if they're all taken from albums by the bands?

In my opinion the greatest 80s spanish metal band is Exodo. Their '85 single "Jezabel" is great but their '88 LP "The new Babylon" is a forgotten heavy metal masterpiece and it is also one of my all time favourites. Unfortunately they didn't have very good production.

Some other great spanish records:

Subterraneo - Toledo (1987)
Talion - Como el Fuego (1991)

I think that in general Spain had many groups back in the 80s but only few of them had great music. Many bands such as Angeles del Infierno, Zarpa, Goliath and some others are very average.

First 2 Angeles del Infierno are pretty good.

I'll second Exodo.

Great album.

I think the second CROM was much better than the debut, although in comparison having a rather crappy cover & is much easier to find

No, it's not my friend. "Steel For An Age" is a true euro metal classic, "Wasteland" is good, but just a little bit too thrashy and too clean. Listen to "The Judgement Bell" or "Mother Loneliness" or "Covered By Glory". Great stuff.
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

1st CROM for me as well. Great album. Sounds like a european version of SAVAGE GRACE After the fall from grace era to my ears.

1st is good, yes, but no timeless stuff like Morgana, The Shining Lie, 12 Knights, ... and a bit too much filler stuff / many of the rest just not on par enough with the bright spots, while the second hardly has any real weak moment

too clean?? if you mean "better played", then yes, else the production is well dosed rawness imo...
