Ah, the obligatory "Metal" ballad...

It's hard to say for me, but off the top off my head, I'd have to say:

Savatage - Strange Wings

After seeing this list, i'd like to ask, Nightlock and all the others as well, what's the definition of a ballad. When i say this word i have other things in mind, not Winds of war and Hell's gate. Well?

Good ballads have to be FAST and HEAVY !!!

This means i don't like ballads !
But i love semi-ballads like Caroussel, The Clown Is Dead from Axel Rudi Pell !

I don't think ballads have to have acoustic guitars and sappy love lyrics :P I guess you call Hell's Gates and Wind's Of War more "power ballads" :P

I would call Hell's Gate epic fuckin' metal :P And the middle part of Winds of War is not just "power", it's plain massacre :P :D

Ballads? My first pick would be:
Metallica "Nothing else matters"
Bruce Dickinson "Tears of the Dragon"
Helloween "A tale that was not right"

Edit: Accept "Its hard yo find a way" too! How did I forget this one?
